Need New "Carry-on" or "Roll-aboard"

So, any opinions about the online merchant E-Bags? I can get some serious gift cards for them for "free."

I use Delsey luggage & TravelPro luggage pretty much, but wife and daughter in the past few years have somehow grabbed my luggage and I have been stuck with a Joseph Abboud bag, which has been somewhat, barely, O.K., but finally met it's match with an overzealous flight attendant on an airline, whose name reminds me of old time Western forts -- and that is all I am going to say.

So, is E-bags a decent online luggage place. Any other suggestions? I just need a carry-on that is hardy enough to survive the "Twenty-Mule Team treatment."

I will probably go for a Delsey, but at the moment just would like some recommendations on possible online stores (I bought the Abboud for $29 at Ross, and considering the price, not such a bad deal).

I can recommend Pathfinder luggage - mine is still in great shape after 25 years. Just bought my son a rolling duffle by Pathfinder on Amazon.

I've used ebags a few times with no problems. They really do seem to have the best online prices and I can usually find a coupon and a good cash back portal too.

Ebags is my go-to 1st stop for travel related items. They have great prices and are often running extra discounts.

They also offer 2-day shipping through shop runner (free with several Amex cards) and a generally high points/$ value through rewards shopping portals.

The Evans brand packing cubes are fantastic also.

Ebags is my go-to for luggage and travel accessories as well. Good customer service and they often have sales or discount codes if you're on their mailing list. I've had to make a few returns and there have been no problems at all. I rely very heavily on the reviews and usually find information in them regarding functionality that isn't in the description or you can't quite tell from pictures (for example, if a pocket is shallower than expected).

If you're in the States, be cautious about listed dimensions for carry-ons if you're pushing the envelope. Airline regulation dimensions include handles/wheels, but the dimensions on vendor websites are sometimes only for the main body itself.

I have used eBags several times with no issues. I use their brand of packing cubes ( love them) and the Eagle Creek packing folders (all ordered from them). I have also ordered luggage and purses from them in past (I like duffles more than traditional suitcases and have large TravelPro as well as Skyway duffles). I also always look at my local TJ Maxx for luggage before I order anything online. Sometimes they have deals on luggage and packing cubes that can even beat eBags. I got 2 spinner type carry-on bags at TJ Maxx for about $50 that have held up well (brand is Olympia). I've also found Delsey and Ricardo luggage at TJ's very reasonable - that stuff is built like a tank. But there's certainly nothing wrong with ordering from eBags if you don't have a TJ Maxx close by.

I've bought purses from ebags as well as packing cubes but have never bought luggage from them. I have been happy with my other purchases so I'm sure they'd be fine for luggage too.

I have a black delsey carryon that I bought at Kohl's for 60% off a few years ago that I love - I just wish it was another color. Have you looked at Kohls yet?

TJ Maxx and Marshalls have some good name brand luggage at good prices sometimes. I have ordered from Ebags and never had a problem with them. Love the packing cubes I got a few years ago.

Thanks for the tips. There is a TJ Maxx and a Ross near me, and they do, at times, have great values on bags/luggage. Nearest Kohls is a couple of hours roundtrip.

But, I can essentially get at least $150 in E-bags gifts cards for free at the moment, so that's why I fixated on E-Bags.

^ Oh TJ Maxx or Ross would beat Kohl's prices any day unless you were going in with a wad of the infamous "Kohl's Cash"!! Definitely do not be afraid to use eBags - they're good - and you can earn rewards points with them too that may accumulate to a few dollars off on a future order....

I can say without a doubt that packing cubes changed my life!

They are essentially nylon rectangular pouches that you use to pack. You pack your clothes in the cubes and then just fit the cubes into your suitcase.

Some people fold in them but I find that they lend to rolling clothes really well. Whether or not they save space depends on how much you stuff into them.

I prefer not to overfill them as I use them as drawers when I get to where I'm going. They make unpacking a breeze because you can just unzip the the cubes and place them into the drawers. Added bonus is your clothes don't touch the drawers where the people before you could have stored who knows what.

Additionally, if you need something from the bottom of your suitcase or need to get to something it's really easy because you just pull out a couple of cubes. You don't have to root through everything and then have to refild, etc.

The eBags brand luggage is phenomenal! They have a LIFETIME guarantee and their customer service is outstanding. I bought the TLS Motherlode Weekender Convertible for my family. After one use, my DD10 accidentally snapped the clip on her bag which rendered is unusable as a backpack. The rest of the ($150) bag was in perfect condition and could still be used as a suitcase or shoulder bag, simply by tucking in the backpack straps. I called eBags and they sent me a BRAND NEW BAG within 2 days! I didn't even have to return the "broken" bag. The kids and I all have eBags lunch bags.
