Hi all!
The other evening while at dinner at a chinese restaurant the subject was mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms and asked for my dinner without them. The owner was teasing me showing me the mushroom in my Mom's dinner and said "See it's just like the ones that dance in that Disney movie." I replied "Yes, in Fantasia and the smallest one is named 'Hop Low'." This of course led to a discussion that included the reply from John (the owner) 'What kind of a chinese name is Hop Low?' My reply: "A Disney Chinese name of course!"
He was baffled by the thought that the mushroms performing the chinese dance from the Nutcracker in Fantasia have names. I can't recall the other names and promised to find out the other names for him!
Help! Does anyone know the names of those mushrooms?
Nancy

I may be incorrect, (and I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong..LOL:D ) that they were simply called the Mushroom Dancers and that the only one named, the smallest one is Hop Low. I looked this up in my encyclopedia of characters and could find no other reference to the mushrooms being named, just little ole Hop Low!

meeko and mickey-
Thanks for your answers. When I posted before I got a server busy/error message and wasn't certain if my question was posted. Silly me.
The reason that I asked was that I recall the mushroom dancers being figurines in the Disney Collection several years ago and I thought that each of the figurines had names.
Could they have named them just for the figurines?

But I defer to the 2 of you as experts. Where can I get John Grant's Encyclopedia of Walt Disney's Animated Characters? Is it still in print?

Thanks again!

I believe it's out of print (the latest edition came out in 1998). I checked Amazon.com and they only have used copies. I've seen them at bookstores like Barns and Noble and Borders, so you might find it at stores like those. It's a really nice book so hopefully you'll be able to find it. :earsboy:

Wow, not sure about the book, if it is still in print, I've had mine for quite a few years now...go to a book site, Barnes & Noble, or Amazon and put a search in, that would be one way to find it.

I did a little looking on WDCC pieces, and there seems to be only one mushroom issued, and it doesn't appear to have a single name, just Mushroom Dancer.

Not really all that important, but you gave me something to dig around for...I like doing that.:D
