Need movie help

There was movie that took place during a war (not sure which, I thought Vietnam). Anyway, it had to do with a group of army wives. There was a scene in which one of them was getting a telegram informing her her husband had been killed. She noticed he had a lot more of them to be delivered and somehow she got them from him and went around delivering them herself. As she went to door to door (it was like a whole neighborhood) the other women joined her in delivering them.
I remember it being a good movie but all I can remember is that scene. Can anyone help?????

My DH thinks Geena Davis was in it but I didn't see it credited to her on a website.

Geena davis was in "A League Of Their Own", in which a teammate had one delivered, but they didn't go around with any others.

Sorry I couldn't help with yours, but that may be the one DH was thinking about.

Nevermind.....googled this: a movie scene of a woman delivering telegrams and it came up as We were soldiers.

I think you have 2 movies going on....

Most of what you are thinking about which does star Geena Davis is "A League of Their Own". Also has Tom Hanks, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell.

The scene is prior to a ball game and the telegram guy arrives in the locker room to deliver it to one of the players. Tom Hank's character grabs it and gives it to the women.

I will have to think about the other movie parts you are describing.

No, its not a league of their own, I know that movie inside and out. Definately was we were soldiers with Madeline Stowe.

I looked up her picture and both DH and I agreed that was her.
