Need More Than One Day at Hollywood Studios?

I am trying to plan our day for Hollywood Studios. I have heard many people tell me that you only need one day there, or even less than one day. However, when trying to schedule things out, I cannot see how we could even cover everything in one day! When considering wait times and show lengths, I have run out of time without even getting to Indiana Jones or the American Idol Experience. Are people just skipping shows here or am I missing something? I really like the shows and I think my kids would like them too. Does anybody else take more than one day at this park?

If you are serious about seeing most or all of the shows, then a single day to do "everything" definitely becomes difficult. Most people who refer to DHS as a "half-day park" are indeed skipping the shows. Don't let that deter you, spend part of a second day if you want to!

I agree with you I think you need more then 1 day unless you skip shows. My family gets really bored doing too many shows in one day so we tend to do half a day there then go to another park. Another day we will start apt one park and finish there.

My family loves Hollywood Studios. We typically spend a full day there and then another 1/2 day before we hop to EPCOT for supper. We make sure to hit each of the shows and then try to go on Star Tour, TSM, RnC twice.

No matter what you will have a great time!

my family always does one and half days there and even skip some shows! we love doing attractions more then once and just enjoying the atmosphere. if you are going at christmas you definitely need more then one day to see the lights :)

DHS is hard to fit into even a full day IMO because like you said, the shows are hard to all fit in. When people call it a half day park, I assume they're basically doing the big rides and then they're out.

We do at least 2 full days there, sometimes we hop there too for more time (depending on where we're staying).

DHS has always been my kid's favorite park and we always allow for two days there. We spend one day riding the rides and the other day watching the shows. We always see Fantasmic one evening and ride some of the rides twice. We stay from opening until closing...it is a beautiful park at night. :goodvibes
It lacks great counter service options and the table service restaurants have gone down hill over the years, but we usually hit one of the resort restaurants for different options.

I can do HS in a day, NEVER half a day. I'd prefer two days. The rides don't take long to get through at all, but I really enjoy the shows.

My family really loves DHS! We don't do all the shows but we do a lot of character meets for my young ones and they seem to be plentiful there! I would go a second day if I had time! But I know I am in the minority on this!

Yeah, that's the thing. In addition to some showswe wouldn't have done before (like Disney Jr.), my preschool aged kids would like the character meet and greets and the playground. I am glad others spend one and a half to two days there. I will see how best to work it into our schedule.

I always do 2 full days at DHS. I have never regretted it. I skip Fantasmic!, and I skip Rn'R. I do ToT, TSM, and The Magic of Disney Animation class as often as I can because I love them to pieces!

We also like to make HS a day and a half. We like to get most the show in ..LMA,Indiana and American Idol will take up 3-4 hrs alone..No less for us we always go to one of the early American Idol shows then go back to watch the Finals at 7pm. Its always neat seeing who wins the final and if they do make it to the real show some day as many have done with there golden ticket.

We LOVE this park! We generally do one full day and one half day and then hop over for another half day or evening. The shows and attractions are all great but the whole atmosphere is what we really love. :)

I really enjoy HS and don't necessarily even ride TSMM. I am planning one, very full day and one half day (in the morning) for my next trip. I enjoy the atmosphere, browsing through "One Man's Dream" without rushing, and the "Streetmosphere". You can't just race through the park and experience these.

We got the shows all in with no trouble, but we skipped almost all the rides. No ToT or RnR. I think the only actual ride we did was TSMM, and we FP'd that.

I am also of the day to day and a half club. Love the park, and while some folks may complain about the number of cool attractions (which I disagree with), the attractions at the park are those that you want to ride multiple times- TOT, R&R, Star Tours.

It depends on the length of your stay. We went 3 years ago and skipped HS all together because we were only there for 6 days and we did more Magic Kingdom and Epcot and one day at Animal kingdom.

We went back this past year and went to Hollywoood studios 2 days and we loved it! We had not been there is so long and found so much had changed and there was so much to do. I think it is definitely a two day park. But again it really depends on your time at DW and the ages of your children. If I was there 6 or less days it might only get one day, because we like a couple days in MK and Epcot. Do not think I would skip it ever again.

HS is definitely heavy in shows, and we're just not big on shows. We used to spend the good part of a day there but for our honeymoon we only have half a day planned. We'll pretty much do ToT, but TSMM had some major issues when we did it and the constant starting and stopping made us sick. Won't be doing that again for awhile! So we will probably try the animation thing this time, one mans dream, walk around a bit, then head out before we have to eat!

So if you're not into viewing the shows, I could definitely see how HS might not be for you. If it were up to my husband we wouldn't go at all.

We are planning to do two days for DHS to fit in the shows, but the second day won't be a full "rope drop to close" kind of day.
