Need Moderate hotel advice

We had a refrigerator in our room at CBR in January. I think (not sure though) that all the rooms at CBR have them now.

Cant comment on any of your other questions as I have never been to CSR.

You can find good information on parasailing and other recreation at allearsnet.com. our CBR room also had a fridge, but there is no water transport to other areas. Bus transportation was great - never had to wait too long.

I always loved the Riverside because it has such a comfortable feeling about it. The food court I believe is one of the best I have ever been to. No matter what, you'll have a great time. I do not like CSR because I believe it has no character and its just like a big business hotel. Long walks to your room. I would never go back there. To each his own. Hope this helps. The other thing about Riverside is they have two separate hotel looks to it. The mansions and the bungalow look. The canal that runs in between with the bridges and boats is so nice. Have fun!

Now, to narrow things further who has the biggest rooms CBR or CSR?
Refrigeraters in the room CBR or CSR?
Best pool for kids (slides and such)?
Does either have water access to the parks or to anywhere?

Hi Darcy -

CSR you can get a fridge for a fee. I forget how much we paid last time we were there.

CBR has bigger rooms by about 25 square feet.

We liked the pool at CSR better - our kids were smaller when we were at CBR and the pool seemed to overwhelm them a bit. CSR has a great pyramid pool that we all like better than the castle theme at CBR.

No water access to anywhere from CSR - you can rent boats and other stuff at CSR to take out on their lake. Don't believe they have any parasailing there...go to Sammy Duval's at Contemporary for that.

Don't forget Pepper Market - great food court concept.

Thanks to all who offered advice.
I'm not the original poster but really appreciated this thread.

We booked today... POFQ. The compact grounds will be appreciated due to the July heat and toting kiddos around...and my DD is excited about the dragon slide at the pool. Lastly, I think we'll take advantage of the short boat ride from the property to Downtown Disney. Sounds fun.

I thought fridges were now included in moderates -- can anyone confirm this?
We're looking forward to Pepper Market!

For the OP, at your kids age I would vote CSR then POR.

CSR - We call is SW Tropical. Best pool, slide & overall water amenity. Beach areas and sand volleyball court. Food court upscale. Good transportation. Newest of moderates. Conventions kept the pool area less crowded when we have been. Great quiet pools. Three distinct themes for rooms. Little extras that made it nice. To some it is big, but we found the walking minimal. Some don't like food court, but we like the great food & selection.

POR - We call is relaxed southern charm. Good pool that the L shape lends to kids end and older end. Kids have always enjoyed it there when under teen ages. Great quiet pools, especially in AB sections. Good Food Court easily accessible. Boat to DTD. Central location. Two distinct themes will beautiful landscaping. Sleeping for 5 with trundle. Large resort but tight footprint, and walking never been hard for us. Transportation can be crowded and we tend to drive to parks from here.

POFQ - We have never stayed because it does not appeal to us because: while the pool is very cute, it is geared for young children and mine were never interested. Many love the smallness of the resort, especially with young kids. But for us it was too quiet (not that we are loud), we just enjoy the energy. Food court was sufficient, but no sit down. Share buses with POR and have the boat to DTD. A plus is they share all with POR so if you don't mind traveling back and forth you have access to all amenities. Resort has lots & lots of fans and I think it is great for older folks, those with very young kids or couples who want a small, quiet place.

CBR - Our least favorite. Has many diehard fans and it is pretty. Our issues: Very large resort with a huge footprint, too spread out. Was a long walk to main area. Long story short - very bad check in experience and was hours before corrected by management. Did not care for food court and ended up driving to other resorts to eat. Drove to parks, buses too crowded. Theme pool extremely too small for size of resort, small slide and small hot tub, and the kids like to use the main pool areas. Does have water amenities on lake.
