I'm new to this forum. DH & I are thinking of a 4 day cruise. We don't care for other cruise lines (been on 3 other cruises). We are DVC members and LOVE the service that we get with Disney!

We are 2 very young 51 year-olds.

Any suggestions?

My suggestion read this board. My DH and I are planning our 7 night Magic trip for next Sept. These boards are so helpful and addicting.

Also get more then a quote from DCL. Dreams Unlimited, All Seasons, Costco (can only get quotes if a member but people say the $45 membership fee is worth it). Usually these TAs have cheaper rates then DCL directly.

Have fun planning.

yes, definitely read these boards!!! Ask away!!!!

Also, when you do book, go to the cruise meet board at the top of this forum and find out who's going with you! You might even find a tablemate.

We are in our forties with a ds-14. But we felt like we were there without a kid!! He had such a great time, that we got alot of adult time. That is what we love about DCL. I know the adult places will be adult only places!!!!

Not that I don't enjoy kids, it just that we are teachers and this was our escape!!!

Have fun planning, you'll become addicted like the rest of us so be aware!!!!

I'm interested in hearing what you didn't like about the other lines, and then hearing how DCL is the same or different in those respects. :sunny:

I've sailed:

RCCL: (With Only DW, no kids). It was great. Food was good. Did not see a lot of kids. Price was good too. Not a single complaint

Holland America. "Old fogey's" (not for a young 51 yo)

Royal Olympic: Very European (It was a Greek Cruise). Many smokers, and people talked on their cell phones constantly, even through dinner.

Disney: Most fun vacation I've ever had, both with the kids and without. The people we met on the ship had similar likes as us (like Disney, duh) and everyone clicked. The activities were well organized, the food was great.

Only downsides of DCL (can't call them negatives) was

(a) lack of casino. DW likes to do them on cruises.

(b) it is pricier than other lines, but it was worth every penny.

We are going on a Celebrity Cruise next time, and would love anyones comments on that.

Jim

PS, One of the group of friends we met on the ship was a couple about your age, with no kids. They had a ball, apparently. They rebooked on board with us and with EVERY ONE in our new group of new friends.
