Need input on choosing a resort

Going with DH in February. I was there in August with 2 grandkids and we stayed at CR for 3 nights. I did enjoy that, but I'm in the parks a lot. This time going with DH for 5 nights and he will be golfing so I'm looking for a moderate resort that he would enjoy hanging out in after golf while I'm in the parks. I'm thinking POFQ or POR or CS. Or do you have another suggestion? We don't enjoy creole cooking of any kind so wondering if there are other options in the PO resorts

I think CB has slightly more to things do than CS. For not going to the parks, the gondolas are good access to EPCOT resort area and all that stuff. Could also visit the Riviera if you do stay there. It has good rooftop views at night.

Though I just realized PO is best for Disney Springs access, so that might be better if you don't care about being by the parks as much.

I stay at POFQ for the majority of my recent trips and I love it there. You can read the menus online to see what you think. There are lots of non-Creole food choices. Also, if you're in the parks a lot, how often, other than breakfast, would you actually be eating at the resort?

Another thing to consider is POFQ's proximity to DS, where there are zillions of restaurants. It's either a lovely boat ride or a very fast bus ride away.

My recommendation is FQ (not POR) because FQ rarely shares buses, has only one bus stop, has newly refurbished rooms, and is a compact, easy-to-walk-around resort. Also, the PO resorts are quite close to Epcot and DHS.

I've stayed at the tower at CSR and although the rooms are lovely, I actually don't care for the food choices there! I'm vegan and they have very few vegan items on their QS menu. Also, CSR has multiple bus stops.

I've never stayed at CBR, so I cannot comment on that.

For the easy connection to DS, I would go with one of the PO resorts. It’s so relaxing to take a boat, especially in the winter when the weather is so nice, but there is also bus transportation available if he wants A/C or heat.

Although they do have some items with a Louisiana flair, they also have regular food items available. Plus you have access to all the DS restaurants. I would spend some time looking at the menus at all three resorts to see which one appeals to you the most. POFQ is the only one without a TS option.

CS is nice, but it’s more self contained. If he just wants to hang out in a pool or hot tub, CS is fine. I like their feature pool better than the PO pools for actual swimming. The restaurants and lounges are fine, but if he wants to go elsewhere he will be taking a bus.

It really depends a lot on what he plans to do while he hangs out.

Another moderate option is CBR. Having the Skyliner available for going to different resorts is a lot of fun and very relaxing. He would have access to all the hotels at Crescent Lake just outside Epcot, as well as Riviera, Pop, and AoA. If he golfed on a day you were at Epcot, you could all meet for lunch at one of the Epcot resorts without him entering a park. I really like the dining options at Riviera as well.

Before you mentioned food, I was going to suggest POR. It has lovely grounds, is an easy boat ride to Disney Springs, and I like that there's a table-service restaurant on site. But do check the menus on line, and if it they you off, look into CBR. I really like the relaxing vibe there as well. (I haven't stayed at CS before, so I don't have a reliable opinion on that one.)

You may want to consider Disney’s Port Orleans Resort in that case. If you’re not into the flavors of Louisiana, there are always plenty of classic favorites like hamburgers, salmon and pizza in their food courts.

Although OKW isn't a moderate resort (although some people say it is), we were just there for a week. DH played golf almost every day (using the supplied transportation), and just hung around most of the rest of the time. Both of us thought it was the perfect place to be, so that's the place I'd recommend.
