Need Information Please

Hello everyone,

I normally hang out on the Resort board, but was curious about DisCon for next year (went to WDW in August 2001, so couldn't afford DisCon). Anyway, I see the dates for 2002 are around when we will be there - can anyone please tell me what the official dates are, and what events are planned? Thanks.

Official dates are December 4th through December 8th. The event schedule has not been decided yet although some unofficial events are being planned (Drink Around The World, Jellyrolls, Karaoke, Adventurers Club, etc.)

We do know there will be the Illuminations private dessert party again. Also, Linda was hinting at a private event being held after hours at the MK. I'm pretty sure they talked about having the Fantasmic dessert party again, too. Am I remembering that right? I also believe she's looking into a special dining experience. I can't wait to see what they have planned. They are promising this DIS-CON will be bigger and better than last year! Yippee!!

How much time before or after is everyone planning on? I don't know if I can talk the 2 grandmas and DH into letting me stay there for much more then 5 days.

Nancy, I think Ray's list has the dates everyone is planning on being there. I'm getting the room, hopefully, from Dec. 1-12. So you can fit your schedule to that. Last year, we planned things for before and after. MVMCP was an after event and that was a blast!

Nancy I know you're relying on others to help you out so your time is limited, but make sure you stretch it out as much as possible. You're going to have more fun than you can even imagine.

DISCON 2002
We are working on this but it will take some time to get everything all set. Below is some thoughts on the event, remember none of this is in stone yet so don't hold us to anything but this is where we are at:
*First of all we are trying to plan an event at the Magic Kingdom and Disney is trying to figure out what date we can do this as they do not have the 2002 MVMCP dates yet ( we are in the pricing stage of this) we can't finalize the events/cost until we can set all the event dates
* Possibly extending the event to 5 nights – Tuesday through Sunday? What do y'all think? Maybe we offer 2 event packages (this is a BIG maybe) one for the 5 nights one for the weekend only.
*I have already got OUR spot on hold for Illuminations on Saturday night J
*We are looking into possibly having some type of fun dinner event one night (with a few surprises – that I can't tell you about or they would not be a surprise, but you'll love it!) - I'll look into group pricing for Hoop Dee Doo also
*DIS Treasure Hunt – this will take place over a few hours around the BW/Y & BC resort area. You'll have to figure out the clues or solve a riddle to get to the next checkpoint – 1st team that gets to the end wins a prize.
*DIS Karaoke themed event.
*Opening reception about the same and last years, maybe the treasure hunt will follow.
*We're arraigning with WDW for a special group booking phone number for the convention that y'all can call WDW directly to book rooms for the convention – they except credit cards and will issue refunds if you cancel and the confirmation. Anyone booking through this block.
*Did y'all like the breakfasts? Another character breakfast is possible or we'll do something with characters at another event. – Oh, and if we do breakfast it will be later starting at 8am

Saturday – Illuminations Dessert Party

Hang on tight...Marsha and Linda I am sure are working hard on this...but we just have to sit and wait...the dates have been announced, but nothing else is definite til it is announced by one of them.

I will be arriving on Thurs Dec. 5 till Sunday Dec. 8th! The plan above sounds GREAT to me! This will be my first Convention, and am looking forward to it! Take your time in posting ALL info, as I have waited since you all came back from the last trip to get info! Thanks, Faith.
