Need info on travelling with cancer patient

In August my family is taking my mom to WDW. She is currently battling breast cancer. The doctor said she could go because the trip would probably help her more than her treatments. This said, could someone give me some info on any special services Disney may have for her. I am not looking for a free ride or anything just some practical advice and a game plan. I know I read somewhere about having a card so that you can wait in the shade. Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

You can find information about the Guest Assistance Card, and other tips for helping make the vacation less stressful, on the Disabilities FAQ which was compiled from a combination of posts on this board, official information, and other sites. There are links on that page to information here on the DIS and 2 other reliable sites, but for your purposes, the DIS information should be sufficient. There are also links to the downloadable Guidebooks for Guests With Disabilities which may be useful for you.

You should feel free to ask questions - the links are a starting point, but it can be overwhelming when you are first trying to figure it all out.
