Need info on 1 beds at Cypress Pointe Grandvillas

We are staying there in June. Wondered if anyone had opinions of 1 beds between Phase I and Phase II? I understand Phase I to be near the volcano pool and Phase II near turtle pool? Any info. or feedback would be great! And additional info on the resort itself much appreciated!

If you are going to use the one bedroom at Cypress Pointe there is a significant difference between Phase 1 and 2. The 1 BR in Phase 1 is really a very upscale hotel room. It is a large, single room with a private balcony, roman tub, separate shower, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot (no range or dishwasher), a large TV and DVD player. It is really only suitable for 2 people as it has a single king size bed. Except for curtains around the roman tub it is all one room.

The 1 BR at Phase 2 (Grande Villas) is a little larger overall and is split by a largely glass wall into two areas. The bedroom/bath which is similar to CPR 1 bedroom but smaller and only has a TV. The other 1/2 is a mini-kitchen including a small kitchen table and a small sleeper sofa. But the only natural light is from the balcony doors - if the shade is closed on the glass wall the kitchen area is dark. It can squeeze four in but it is one bath, one TV and very little privacy. It is far better suited to 2 guests.

Both 1 BR's fall short of what I expect in a timeshare - room and features like a house or condo would have. Both resorts are much nicer if you get the 2 or 3 bedroom units that have space, full kitchens and much more. Once I'm in a two or three bedroom unit I prefer CPR as it has newer interiors and more unit features. If I have to take a one bedroom I'd probably pick CPGV first but I'd still be very happy to be in Orlando in a CPR one bedroom. I'd be happier in a 2!

DH and I have stayed in both the CPR and CPGV 1 bedroom and I prefer the CPGV. I like having the stove, and sofa. Keep in mind the bedding is a queen in the CPGV and a king in CPR. I really missed having a sofa at CPR. When we travel with other people, I too would choose CPR for the surround sound and more recently updated interiors. With just 2 of us the 1 br is fine.

Thanks for the replies. We had a friend to book CPGV for us through a timeshare he has. Sounds like we made the right choice for our family. We are myself, DW, DD14 and DS12. The sofa bed was important. DS doesnt mind a blowup mattress on the floor. We had some concern with the shower being exposed to the whole room. I had read this on another review somewhere. This wouldnt fly with DD! We have stayed in All Stars for several nights, so space shouldnt be much of an issue.

With 4 people, I would recommend a 2 bedroom. 4 people in a 1 bedroom will be tight.

Agreed. I stayed in a 1 bed at CPGV with 2 girlfriends, and when the sofa bed is pulled out there is not much room for a blow up mattress. The open sofa takes up almost all the living room space, and then you have the table in the dining room plus the coffee table (that you have to move to open the sofa) taking up space as well! You might be able to push things around and fit in a mattress, but then you'd better all be going to bed together, and you'd better not need a midnight snack or even drink of water from the kitchen! I found that once the sofa was open there wasn't a lot of room to get through the doorway from the bedroom to the living/dining/kitchen area - I can see some toe stumping going on in the dead of night for anyone attempting to get inot the kitchen!

The bathroom at CPGV 1 bedroom will be OK, though - it is big, and the shower and toilet areas close off with a real door. The main part of the bathroom also has a door, but then an open window by the roman tub - but that has a curtain that can close. So once you remember to close that curtain before heading into the shower or bath, there will be enough privacy.
