Need info from Vietnam Vets!

Hi! I'm costuming a production of Miss Saigon for Pittsburgh Musical Theatre. The first scene is a bunch of Marines and Soldiers at a brothel. My question is - would they be in uniform? Civvies? Some combination?

No need to confess to actually going to a brothel! Just info on "off-hours" clothing choices would be wonderful.

Any information or advice would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!
