We are headed to WDW in 2 months. My DD will be 9 months when we go. I have never been w/ an infant before. Our older DD was 15 months the first time she went. So no bottles, formula, and baby food. Plus she was walking and almost completely potty trained. I was wondering if you have any tips or advice for me. We are on the DxDDP so we will have lots of breaks in a/c.

What about rides? I know she can't go on height restricted rides but what about ones she can go on but should avoid?

TIA. I'm looking forward to hearing from you all.

My dd was almost potty trained at 18 months (#2's took a little longer), but 15 months! :worship:

I asked this question a little while ago, as I will be going with 4.5 month old in 2 months. The biggest suggestion was to go in the morning, take a break back at your hotel for the afternoon, and go back out after you're rested. I hear the baby care centers are great, but may be a distance depending on where you are in the park... so plan accordingly (if you can). Make a daily itinerary (allow spontaneity) with a list of rides you'd like to do, in the order you'd like to do them in and plan meals also. I think the unofficial guide gives specific info on each of the non-height restricted rides to help you plan also. Reading the disboards has been a lifesaver as I've found a wealth of info on slings, strollers, bringing babies, etc. keep reading... check often for new posts that may be very useful to you. Planning is almost as much fun as going! No wonder some people go every year, I'm ready to start planning for next year already! :woohoo:

I took my 8 month old last year. She was the easiest out of all the kids! We took powdered formula and added the correct amount to a couple of bottles ahead of time. When she was hungry we just added bottled water and shook. We also carried a couple of jars of baby food and at dinner she ate a combo of baby food and off our plates (I have good eaters! :thumbsup2) We also kept a couple of individual packs of Lorna Doone cookies for her to teeth on. We had www.gardengrocer.com deliver the diapers, formula, and baby food, so we didn't have to schlep it on the plane. She just slept in the stroller when she was tired. We took her on all the rides without height restrictions. She slept in the pack and play. Really, she was a lot easier to manage than the "big" kids! :rotfl2:

...oh and we never do afternoon naps. Since the OP is traveling with a toddler, it might be better for her, but my next oldest was 7, so there was no napping happening there. Since my baby is a good sleeper, she was perfectly content in the stroller. I will qualify this by saying we go in November. The park hour are shorter and the weather is cooler.

If you're flying diapers.com is my BFF. There's tons of coupons for $10 off. You can order just 3 days before you leave they offer free 2 day shipping.

I order all diapers, night diapers, pull ups, formula (sometimes I also order hte take n toss sups and extra pacis) from them everytime. Never had any trouble all of it's waiting for us on check in. They charge so much to fly with luggage the last thing I want is to pay $25 is to fly diapers.

Then before we come home we pack the box everything shipped in with souveniors liek the build a dino, lots of toy stuff, etc and ship it home for the resort. Less junk to haul back thru the airport and only costs us about $11-14 to send it vs. $25 to fly it.

That's a great idea. I was going to either ship or order our diapers before we left. Last time I needed them we could bring 2 suitcases per person so it wasn't a problem.

Thanks for the advice from everyone. I should have made it clear my older DD is going to turn 9 during this trip so she won't be a problem. I never went back to the resort w/ her when she was a toddler either. I had an "SUV" of strollers and she just napped in it when she needed too. We would just sit somewhere quite and relax while she slept.

I was wondering what kind of stroller everyone likes for an infant? I don't like umbrella strollers but then I don't want to make DH bring our jogger on/off the buses.

If I were you I'd look at a Baby Jogger City Mini or Peg P3. You can carry them one handed for transportation yet they are full featured. We used our P3 for lots of baby trips. Great sun coverage if you search you can get them cheap.

I'm glad you said that. I just ordered a P3. It will be here Friday. I hated to spend so much $ on a new stroller but figured I could keep it in the van and use the jogger for walking. Our jogger is so BIG. It's hard to get in and out of our van. I looked around for weeks and decided on the P3. I searched the forums and most posts I read said the Mac. I really don't like them. Thank You. I hope I really like it when it comes.

I love Macs I have 2, but for sun coverage you can't beat a P3. The hood will go all the way to the tray even in the 1st reline and the leg rest is great for keeping the toys from rolling out of the seat. Our 22 month old still sits with the leg rest up keep the snacks that fall off his hands from the tray in the seat for later. The basket underneath is probably it's biggest fault and not really meant for a diaper bag. I have to go to my Skip Hops and attach at the handles. I use my Dash the most on there and the side pockets give me extra cup holders. There are some on sale on Toys R Us site.

We took DD at 6 months and it was a lot easier than we ever expected.

We packed a light diaper bag (refilled on our afternoon breaks). We took our own stroller and a baby backpack in which we would transfer her back and forth if she got fussy.

She rode pretty much everything DS did. You can take baby on any ride without a height requirement, and you'll get a lot of different opinions on what is and isn't okay, all I can say is that DD would sleep on most of the rides! She did HM, JC, POTC, Gran Fiesta, Monster's Inc LF, Tiki Room (she was okay with the noise).

She slept in a pack n play in our room and did just fine. She slept when she wanted to, ate when she needed to. We really didn't change her schedule much for our trip.

We took our youngest at 5 months and 9 months. I am dreading taking him at 17 months in November!:scared1: But taking him at 5 months was a breeze!! That was the earliest any of our children had been to Disney. He just slept, people watched and ate. It was great!

One tidbit that I found incredibly useful was the pouches of formula. Not sure if you bottle feed, but they were SO convenient! We just brought a gallon size ziploc bag of them to the park everyday, a few bottles and some bottled water and he was set for the day. So much easier then carrying that big contanier of formula around and having to scoop it out every time he had to eat!

Have a wonderful trip!

DS was 9 mos on one of our trips. We ordered diapers, wipes, swim diapers, water, snacks, baby food, breakfast food, etc from gardengrocer.com and had it delivered to the resort. DS was on formula so I ordered ready to feed nursette bottles from Enfamil and had them shipped directly to the resort. They're not the most economical choice, but they're so convenient when you're on the go. No worries about keeping the bottles cold on a hot day in the parks. :thumbsup2

I bought disposable changing pads for use on changing tables in restrooms and I also bought scented bags for disposing of the stinky diapers. DS slept in the Pack N Play, but I brought our own sheets for it because I thought it might help him sleep in a strange place if it smelled like home.

He went on pretty much any ride he was allowed on. At that age, he was too little to be scared of things, so we rode HM, PoC, etc with no problems. He even fell asleep on HM!

Although we do tend to take a mid-day break, he often napped on and off in the stroller throughout the day. He loved the pool too.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

I was really happy to see that the Pack n Plays are provided free of charge since our DS will also be 9 months when we visit.
