These are all awesome ideas!!! Thanks everyone.....Keep em coming!!!!

Board games...

My son wanted Sorry Sliders. I also got him a chess set, Simpsons Life, and Connect 4x4 games. The boxes are a good size :thumbsup2 It will make up for the "small looking" video games that are $50!!!

That's exactly what I'm up against...the incredibly small boxes that the $50 video games come in!! LOL!!! He is too young to understand the monetary value of those small boxes........

Why not wrap the video game with tissue paper in a shirt box?

* watch on a carabiner or pocket watch

* gloves/hat...my boys are always losing these!!! can never have enough!

* bank/counting change jar

* crane game full of goodies

Did anyone say COMIC BOOKS? I loved comic books as a kid....

DSS9 is getting a bike for his big gift. It was $30 more then the other 2 kiddos big gifts so he is getting smaller filler gifts. We got him a Hollister shirt (size xs) on clearance for $13. He likes to wear the trendy clothes that his older brother wears. DH got him a model car kit that snaps together and will add a note to it that it's a special gift for just him and dad to do together. He'll get some Tech Deck or Flix Trix and a small ramp to go with them. And probably a book.

Meijer has the Tech Deck single boards for under $3 this week. DSIL got him a couple of sets already so we will get one for his stocking and one for under the tree.

sports team shirts/sweatshirts, baseball hats, movie tickets, snowball maker, books, posters for his room, a calendar, clock radio, cd's, Dvd's, balls - soccer, baseball, football, street hockey balls/pucks, basketballs

check out Five Below if you have one - great fun ideas if you just look around!

Good Luck!

There is a website called Pocket Full of Therapy. My son gets Occupational Therapy for some fine issues and muscle weakness so I look for toys that develop muscle strength and coordination. But they are also great classic toys for any kid.

Will someone explain tech decks to me?

I second the suggestion for a head lamp. My son (almost 9) loves his.

For smaller gifts my son is getting (some of these are for his stocking):

skin for DSi
skin for Nano
books
snap circuits
Subway giftcard
Itunes giftcard
Bubble Gum Factory (he loves bubblegum)
movie gift card

Kids Woot has a Carabineer Digital Camera listed today for 4.99... could be fun for backpacks and taking random (fairly bad quality) images of friends at school, LOL!
http://kids.woot.com/

FYI I don't get tech decks either but my 6.5 y/o LOVES them. He doesn't swap out the wheels or anything, just rolls them around like matchboxes and thinks the pictures on the bottom are cool. :confused3

Stocking stuffers I'm getting this year:

Chuck E. Cheese tokens
Movie tickets (sign up for the rewards program while you are at it!)
McDonald's GC
Target GC (small so they can pick out a toy or game)
Life saver book (tradition :) )
Socks (with money hidden in the toe)
Candy
Comic books

We were asking my DS7.5 for ideas, he said "Well there is something I really want but I have to be 9." We asked him why and he said, "The box says you have to be at least 9 years old." I was all prepared for him to say a skateboard since we've always told him he had to be older. Nope, he wanted the finger skateboard but was resigned to waiting until he was 9.:rotfl2: That's my rule follower child. :goodvibes

Many great suggestions but one I don't think I have seen is shrinky dinks. They are available at all the craft stores and many have a kit for $10-15 that include carabiners, keychains, etc for them to make wearables with them. We bought a kit last year and they had lots of fun with it. For many kids, they've never heard of them and they think it is cool.

Do you mean stocking stuffers? If so for my 9 you we're getting:

A headlamp - great for flashlight tag. - Lowe's has them for under $20 for an LED one with both Red (night vision) and white bulbs.

These sound perfect for our DDs & nephews!! I found some at Restoration Hardware online but couldn't find any at Lowe's only online haven't gone to the store. Are they made for kids or just adjust to their size? I did see some online however they were less than $5 so I'm guessing they weren't it???

Thanks all for sharing!! The marshmallow shooter was a close second. :santa:

Well, DS3 is getting a used DS and a race track for Christmas, as well as Toy Story Mania for the Wii. That pretty much ate up my budget, but really isn't a WOW christmas in terms of present size. I am trying not to spoil him too much for Christmas and do stick to my budget....but he needs a bigger pile than those little boxes! Anyway, I work PT at BB&B so I got some cheaper "filler" gifts there with my discount- prices I post are retail:

1. Marshmallow Shooter ($14.99). I think this will be a huge hit. Plus my cats and dog go beserk over mini marshmallows for whatever reason so he can shoot and they can clean it up :thumbsup2
2. Little Remote control race car ($9.99). Seems easy enough for him to use.
3. Whoopie cushion that automatically inflates ($3.99). I will probably regret this but DS and probably DH will find this hysterical
4. Some crazy light up yo-yo thing ($5.99)
5. Accessory set for his DS ($19.99)

I am going to try and wrap everything up in bigger boxes too.

I just saw these in the camping section at Kmart over the weekend.

They are adjust to size.

DH got it instore. They also have them at Home Depot.

If you are worried about them fitting on their heads there are also these:

http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___55928

They can also be found at most outdoor gear stores and some hardware stores.

the only other recommendation I can make for sure it to be sure that the one you get is LED. Standard bulbs are cheaper but they are much bulkier and the kids don't like them because they get heavy after a while.

I do have one more suggestion on the present front. I got these today for DS9: http://storeforknowledge.com/Boxed-Break-Your-Own-Geodes-10-geodes-P3446C0.aspx

They were less 20% when I got them so just over $7 plus shipping. I also added a Large geode for an additional $3. This store has the best price everywhere else is over $10. I read somewhere that if you know someone with a tile cutter it's the best way because you get a nice clean line cut.
