Dh, dd2 and I are goiong to WDW in 8 days for our first family trip. We arrive on Friday and plan on doing Downtown Disney when we arrive for lunch and some shopping. We have ADR for Dinner at Grand FLoridian's Cinderella dinner. My question is what can we do after dinner? Is there anything to do right by the hotel we are eating at? I see that the Electrical Water Pageant goes by there at about 9:15, probably about 2 hours after we will finish eating, is it worth waiting around for to see? Can we just take a Monorail ride, would dd find that fun?

Thanks!

No the water pageant is not very special and I compare it with something you might see on a hometown lake a little jazzed up. You can take the monorail and resort hop getting off and seeing the resorts located along the monorail to give you a better idea of what the resorts have to offer. As for your little one, advise a CM at the monorail that you would like to ride up front with the driver and they will happily arrange this for you. Then your daughter will feel special and have a very special view. If you do this you may want to ride the entire loop before getting off at the different resorts to give her the VERY special feeling. :thumbsup2

It seems as though that first night is up for grabs, so I would HIGHLY recommend that you take the boat from the Contemp. over to the WL and check it out also. You might not want to go any further. It is AWESOME and our favorite, so if you are just perusing anyhow make it a must see! You will not regret it in my opinion!

How late does your dd stay up?

At GF you have a good view of any fireworks.

DD she has stayed up until 10ish on special occassions. We were going to stay around to see the fireworks on Sunday when we do MK, but I guess we can see them twice.

Thanks for teh suggestion of the boat ride, now we have a few options and we can play it by ear.

Thank you!

HEY ANDIE :welcome: come on in and join the party: Sounds like you have made a good start on yor planning. I always want to see/listen to the Water Pageant even though not many others do. I can't listen to Handel's water music without actually feeling like I am there. Taking the monorail?? YES! We often make that one of our very 1st things. Like someone else said we get off at each hotel and wonder around to check out their lobby and gift shoppe since they all sell different things. I love riding the Epcot loop since it is so much longer and on the way there you see the "ball" appearing in the distance. On the way back the Castle peeks up! OH OH OH don't forget to mention to the Cast Member that you want to ride up front with the driver! Your DD will love it (so will you) you just might haffa wait if someone else has asked but it is worth it. She might get a "driver's license" depending on the driver's mood.

Have a great time

I wonder where you have a water show on your home lake compared to Disneys. This show has been running since WDW began. Its free and only makes the MK resort and FW loop. We've seen it countless times and never miss it during our vacation. Lounging around the resort beach, then hearing the boats traveling music and finally the lights and music blares up is all what being in Disney World is about. A boat ride to FW is a pleasant way to use some time, the Tri-Circle D ranch is there, where they stable the horses that work in WDW, they have apetting farm, Settlement Trading Post and a great eatery, Trails End, with the best pizza on property. CR has the biggest game room on property and is worth a peak, plus as others have said, a look at the WL lobby and pool area is fantastic.
