Well after loads of ups and downs and having to cancel our trip in November, changing it to Jan then having to cancel that and thinking that we wouldn't be able to go until 2008, we have finally managed to work everything out and have now re-booked for Jan 07 for 3 weeks!

I am so excited, we had an e-mail from the fab Ansa at Virgin yesterday confirming that everything was amended and booked and that we were even let off paying an 8th amendment fee!

As my DP has never flown and she actually wants to experience economy we are flying out Econ and back PE rather than PE both ways as we had planned.

So my question is this - we haven't told ds that we are going. We leave on the 8th Jan and he turns 9 on the 15th Jan and we will be taking him to Discovery Cove on his birthday as it is his life long dream to swim with the dolphins. We've also bought the new Disney Princess & Party tickets too!

We want to keep the whole holiday a secret and let him open something on Christmas Day to signify that we are going. I am stuck for what to do! Does anyone have any ideas??

What about a stuffed toy dolphin with an invitation round its neck inviting him to come to Florida for a swim.

The last time we went we made fake airline tickets and put these into Disney cards with an invitation from the character on the front inviting them back to Florida. I've never seen the kids faces light up so quickly when opening a card. :goodvibes

What about making up a little box with loads of small Disney clues in it (trinkets and/or information leaflets and stuff), if you make it in layers you can put a "ticket" in the bottom so he can piece all the stuff together before he realises what his present is if you get what I mean?!? I haven't explained it very well but I made a similar thing for my Dad last Xmas as we'd bought him Rolling Stone tickets. It was great watching him open it, get all confused and then realise what we'd bought him!

We did a treasure hunt for Beccie when she was younger the final clue took her on the computer which then had an invitation on it inviting her to go to Florida on ? date.

Treasure hunt, definitely! I'm sure Joh (wilma-bride on here) did one that was very successful :)

We surprized our two Daughters on the morning we flew!!
We woke them up at 3.am (Poor Things) and handed them an Invitation in the form of a scroll which was inviting them to jump out of bed as they had a plane to catch, and Mickey and Minnie as lot's of the other charactors were waiting to see them.
We are so glad we did it and we will never forget their little faces , absolutely priceless ( make sure you get it on video)
Anyway It is something that is talked about often and will, Im sure be repeated again one day.
Good luck
