I've been to WDW many times but our upcoming May/June trip is special because my sister and her family are going with us! The last time they went was 6 years ago when her twin girls were 2 yrs old and when she and her husband were newly expecting their now 6 year old son.

Anywho...I have an 8 yr old and my older son will turn 13 in May right before our trip. I've already been building the excitement for our trip by showing all the kids cool photos here on the DIS and teaching them about Hidden Mickeys and involving all of the kids in the planning when possible. I've been buying things to make Disney themed Goody Bags that I will give the kids the night before we leave or the morning we leave.

I need some ideas on things to add! I have 5 kids to make bags for so I'm trying to keep it as fun yet as inexpensive as possible. All of you creative DISers please share any ideas you have!

So far I have gotten these items:

For the 2 girls (who are 8): Disney Princess Bracelets with their favorite Princess on them. (These are plastic, from Dollar Tree)
Tinkerbell and Princess stickers, Minnie Mouse and Disney Animal Coloring and Activity Books with Mickey and Minnie crayolas.
A mini battery operated fan on a string for each.

For the 3 boys (6yrs, 8yrs and 13yrs at trip time): Mickey Mouse and Disney Heroes coloring/activity books.
Cars stickers (Lightning McQueen, Mater and the other characters from the movie)
Mini battery operated fans.

There are TONS of cute Princess related things I can get for the girls at Dollar Tree but I'm at a loss what to get the boys. I'm thinking some Pirate stuff but my 13 yr old isn't gonna love something too cheesy.

I'm going to make tshirts with each kid's favorite Disney Character that will go in the bags too. I'm also thinking of ordering everyone's Ear Hats at Disney Store online but they don't have any Stitch or Pluto Ear Hats online that I could find! So my kids would not have the ear hats in their bags.

We're driving so I thought of maybe Disney Movies or video games but 1) we already own most of the Disney Movies that my kids enjoy and 2) it kind of defeats my purpose of keeping it inexpensive if I buy movies and games.

Any ideas????

How about some card games? I think Michael's has some inexpensive four packs of Disney-themed card games like Crazy 8s, etc.

Check eBay for some pins. There are stores there that sell lots of them for relatively inexpensively. That way they would have some to start their trading. I think Michael's or AC Moore also had some lanyards that would work for the pins too.

HTH!

How about a spiral notebook for autpgraphs and a pen for them (office supply stores willl have some choices)- I like the ones with index card type paper. You can even decorate the cover with a character or their names.

Sometimes I have seen cards with Disney characters (sometimes set card games and sometimes a basic set of cards at Dollar Stores.

Another thing they may all love would be a container of the glow bracelets (avaiable at dollar stores and the dollar section in Michaels).

Cards! Good idea! I completely forgot that I already have Autograph books that I can put in the bags and I have a few glow sticks that hang on a string like a necklace but I need the bracelet ones. Thanks! I completely forgot that I wanted those for evenings at the parks or fireworks shows!

My kids have new lanyards for this trip but I should get some for my nieces and nephew too! I think there were some on eBay too! I'm not into the pin trading but that's a perfect thing to add to the bags! The kids will love it!

Thanks again! :yay:

You can get something like 20 pins for $20. It's a lot cheaper than buying them there and then trading them away ;)

Awesome! Now I just need to find a thread about pin trading! Yay! I'm even more excited now! I've been to WDW atleast 14 times and this trip will have many "first" for everyone, now I can add First time Pin Trading to the list!

I'm also working on some goodie bags for our Jan. Trip. I found Toy Story sunglasses at Target a couple weeks ago. And today I made laminated luggage tags. I also picked up a $3 floppy hat and put AK themed pins on it.

This isn't for the gift bags, but we did a scavenger hunt the last time we went. We made a list of things to find and take pictures. We had to trade a pin and buy ice cream. We had a blast. We split up into 3 groups and had an hour to complete it. We all go the ice cream last and then showed the pictures.

Thank you all! These are all awesome suggestions!

Just got back from Michaels. They have a huge selection of $1 stocking stutters - Disney themed. They had 5 themes - princess, fairies, cars, to story and Mickey mouse club. Things like pens, notepads, diaries, coin purses, coloring pages, flutes, crayons, games, etc.

YAY!! :cool1: Thanks for the info! I'm for sure going to Michaels tomorrow to check it out!

:thanks:

That sounds like fun! I'm gonna try to remember to do that when we finally get to go see Disney for the first time. :cloud9:

Our Michaels isn't so cool I guess! The only things they had were card games and coloring books. The exact same ones that are at Dollar Tree! Boooo! I was hoping they alteast had the notepads and pens because I was going to encourage the kids to write down all of the states they see on license plates on our drive from TX to WDW. Oh well!

I forgot about the fruit snacks. I bought some Toy Story themed ones for my son's bags.

Great list of ideas. I'm nearly done with my bags. Hoping to take some pics today and then I'll post them.

On another thread I was talking about how I was looking for these Disney Flashing Light Sticks and I finally found them, they are at one of the Walmarts where I live for $3.00 but I've decided to buy these Mickey light up spinners instead! http://www.premierglow.com/mickey-ball-spinner-bldissp.html

Thanks to Marmalade for the link! :cool1:

Have any of you found something similar for about $3-$5 each?? The Mickey spinners are $2.35 each and after shipping for 5 of them I'll spend about $25. I'm trying to stay at about that range for a light up toy for each kid.

Oh yeah...Texans of the world unite! I totally know what you are talking about, Texan Michael's have basically nothing good anymore. They have really lost all of their good supplies. Maybe you could try Hobby Lobby for some cool "make-your-own...s". I once found a decorate your own mickey there. It was a small clay mickey and you could paint and decorate it. Super cool! Might check into that!

My MIL found similar princess stuff at AC Moore. But it wasn't as much of a selection, at least around here.
