We are doing a short trip to WDW and I'd like to make it a bit festive for the kids. We've never been to WDW at Christmastime and we are so excited!
So, other than the Christmas tree exchange, how have you decorated your villa for the holidays?
Would love some ideas!

If you are at OKW, you can take a string of LED lights and wrap them around the railing of the porch. There is an outdoor outlet on the wall between the french door from the living room and the door from the master bedroom. We find that to be the easiest, since there is no need to worry about securing things with tape etc.

Only problem. DVC has asked members not to have any decorations on the outside or that can be seen from the outside. This was the posted rules last year.

Don't use any tape or tacks inside. You could use suction cups to hand things. Some members have had problems with the 3M Command hooks, too (they marred the finish or tore the wallpaper). So I wouldn't use them.

We will be there Xmas week and I just bought some things to decorate our room. Of course I bought a tree, ornaments, garland, topper & tree skirt. A festive tablecloth for the table (SSR 1 bedroom), window clings for the sliding glass doors, stockings, and a doorhandle hanging santa. That's all I could come up with keeping in mind we can't hang anything or decorate on the balcony. Oh, I did see at the dollar store a cool giant magnet to go on the fridge. I might pick that up too.

Yep

Resort leaders offer holiday-decorating reminder

As Disney Parks and Resorts reflect the spirit of the season with a winter wonderland of holiday decorations, many Disney Vacation Club® Members are decorating their villas in similarly festive fashion.

While Disney Vacation Club welcomes the use of safe decorations that don't damage the finishes of the villa, resort leaders are reminding Members that all decorations should be contained within the villa interiors and therefore shouldn't extend to the balcony or other exterior areas.

This policy, included in Members' condominium documents, is designed to help preserve the carefully crafted architectural stories and visual themes for which Disney Parks and Resorts are famous.

Oh after I saw your post I remembered the wreath. We have an over the door hanger from which we can hang our wreath.

I saw some cute Mickey countdown to Christmas decorations which you can set and place somewhere like on the t.v. or end table. ::MickeyMo

This will be our third year of having Xmas at BLT. Both of our adult sons will be able to join us this year and they keep sending us daily countdown reminders.

As for ideas, I bring copies of Xmas pictures when our boys were younger and put them in cheap frames for the room. It makes it feel so homey and when our sons (now adults) see them it gives them a good laugh.

Also, I bring the plastic Nativity set we have from when they were little and set it up.

Hope that helps.

Enjoy...we love Xmas at Disney.

Ooooohhhhh. I never thought of window clings! .....or a festive tablecloth! Both of which could easily fit in a suitcase!
I wonder if I could use the command strips on the edge of the counter (to hang stockings) ... I can't imagine any damage being done to the countertop...

That's why we just use stocking hangers. Our's are Mickey ones we got about 10-12 years ago at the Disney Store.

We were at BLT for Christmas week 2010 and had fun decorating our villa for the holidays. We had a Mickey wreath that I bought at Walgreens hanging on our door with a over the door hanger hook, we brought a 4 foot Christmas tree that we decorated and put on one of the small tables so you could see it out our living room window. We also had window clings and stockings. Now didn't know the rule about no balcony lights...so we also had them up. (as well as many others, so didn't even think about being a no-no). It was very festive and fun!

Enjoy your Disney holiday!

The decorating rule first came up last year. And that rule included exterior of doors as well as the patios and porches.

We hang our wreath inside the villa on our door. I did find cute Mickey decor both at Walgreens and Walmart. But I like the idea a pp had with the table cloth. Since we will be there for NYE it would be fun to bring things to celebrate the New Year. Just something simple maybe like Happy New Napkins could be fun. I'm getting so excited now. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!
I found a small (maybe 20") pre-lit Christmas tree at Walmart... And I got it into my carry on suitcase! Yeah!!!!
Also bought some cute window clings. And I'm sure I have a nice red tablecloth around here somewhere!:santa:
Gosh! I hope I remember to leave room in my suitcase for clothes!!!! LOL!!
Waaaay excited now!!!!

We get a floral arrangement delivered from the Disney Florist for every vacation. We'll just do one that has a holiday feeling to it for Christmas. I like the tablecloth idea, though, so I may throw one of those in the suitcase. It's just the two of us in a studio, so there won't be a need to go all out.

I wonder if a Yankee Candle would survive the flight in my checked bags. That would be a nice homey touch.

I didn't think they allowed lit candles in the resort rooms.
