We are getting married at home at our church and then we'll have a reception afterward somewhere local. I would love to have a Disney theme but my sister just got married in June and had a Cinderella theme. She is very over-senstive when it comes to me...she has always been super competitive with me and we are finally now just forming a friendship of sorts so I am going to avoid Disney all together. That said, my colors are going to be sapphire and silver...does anyone have any good theming ideas? I would like my centerpieces, favors and cake to somehow relate. You guys are all so creative and I am hoping someone can help!

Thanks!
Jes

Gosh I hate that you have to compromise what you want to keep the peace... but, I know how that goes. It happens with a lot of siblings. I dont know what to tell you but I am sure you will find something perfect! Good Luck!

I'm pretty sure that someone a while back did a When You Wish Upon a Star theme, and it was really cute. She did pink and silver, I think, and had stars on her cake and everything. It would work wonderfully with blue and silver, and it would be easy to tie together, and it's subtle Disney without looking like you copied her.

What jojo said reminds me of the Disney cake that they have that said

And
They lived
Happily ever after

On three tiers. I saw one done in blue and silver. I tried looking for the cake threads where everyone posted a photo of their cake.. its been a while back, but couldn't find it. You could change yours to
When
You wish
Upon a Star...

or something of the sort. Just goign with Jojo's ideas here...

When You Wish Upon a Star is adorable!! :wizard:

I also thought of a Fantasia type theme. Yes, it is Disney, but not princessy Disney, more along the lines of Mickey and more whimsical. :wizard:

Obviously if sis went with a Cinderella theme, and you are on these boards, your family must enjoy Disney. So, I think sis may have to take back seat and let you enjoy the Disney magic, just as much as she did.

I think as long as you stay away from princesses and a prince charming fairytale type theme, she would have a hard time arguing that you copied her.

Or just do Mickey in general.....some of us diehards may argue that Mickey and Cinderella are VERY different. And most likely your guests won't think a thing of it, so don't compromise too much of what you want to tiptoe around your sister.....you want a beautiful wedding too! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
