We have a major skating event this weekend and DH and I are responsible for security. We have to get volunteers to watch the doors and only let in people who have paid, as well as watching restricted areas. It starts tomorrow and now we are short people for tomorrow due to illness, and others just cancelling. Of course Friday is the hardest day to get volunteers due to the fact that people are at work/school. I have emailed one person that I know well to ask if she would work extra hours, but I hesitate to email/call others.
Is it rude to email/call people and ask them to work more/longer hours?
Is it okay to email all our club members and beg for help? We sent out an email a while ago to ask for help initially.
Any other ideas for recuiting people on such short notice?
Our skating club has 1100 members, even if all of them have a sibling in it that is still 550 families and for all the jobs combined we have fewer then 50 volunteers. Many of those from the same family. In our own families case all 4 of us are volunteering between 15(DD10) and 50(myself) hrs. Why is getting volunteers harder then pulling teeth. This should be a huge deal (we host every 10yrs or so) and everyone should want to be part of it.
