My DH and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this coming March. We'd like to take a trip somewhere to celebrate - somewhere other than WDW(I'll be going in Nov. 2010). I'd like to go somewhere warm, 'cause by then I'll be sick of the New England winter, but not where I'd break the bank to go. I'm thinking of maybe the Fl Keys or Arizona? Not sure how the weather is in AZ in mid-March, but I've never been out to that part of the country and would love to see the Grand Canyon sometime. I don't think I'd have the time or $$ to get to Hawaii, either.

We're not the kind of people who just lie on a beach all day - my DH needs "stuff" to do and see, which is why we enjoy WDW so much. I enjoy a nice resort, with lovely landscaping, and as long as there's somewhere to walk, I'm pretty content. Anyone have any suggestions of different locations?

If you've considered hawaii but don't have the $$, consider St. Lucia.
It's considered the "hawaii of the caribbean". I would highly recommend one of the 3 Sandals properties there. Perfect for celebrating an anniversary.
Sandals is all inclusive and that includes EVERYTHING, food, drink, activities, tips, transfers. Only extras you'd have is the $70/pp resort dive certification if you're not PADI certified and any spa treatments, gift shop purchases or off property excursions.
There's exchange privileges between all 3 Sandals as well, with complimentary transfers between.
Definately a place for those in love.

My DH has always wanted to go to the Florida Keys for an anniversary and we've never quite made it. You could go and tell us if it's worth it :thumbsup2

I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but you will never get me to fly over open water :scared1:.

What about the old south? New Orleans and the like? If it's not Mardi Gras time I hear it's beautiful, and they could still use the boost.

Guess I should read the whole post before I reply!!! My DH went to a Jeep thing out in the Utah area one year and LOVED it. He said the scenery was breathtaking and would love us to go together someday. He went in April and the weather could change from hot to cold quickly, so just pack accordingly if you do go.

What about Savannah, we went there for a long weekend to celebrate out 30th last year. Just make sure you avoid St Patricks Day week! If you like a resort vacation, Hilton Head is really close and then you can tour Savannah!

Thanks for the ideas so far. I'm just not too sure how warm Hilton Head would be in mid-March. I like the Savannah idea, too - I spent a few days there and at Jekyl Island YEARS ago, but w/o DH. I really want to go somewhere where I know it will be warm. We were at WDW the first week of March this year and we FROZE - and we're New Englanders. That's why I'm thinking I have to be south of Orlando someplace.

We thought Fort Lauderdale was nice. If you are looking for something quieter, there's Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

Couples Jamaica!

www.couples.com

They have deals all the time and every Wednesday they have a super deal. (And a message board like DIS!!!)

Ive stayed at Couple Negril before, but a coworker has been going to Couples CTI twice a year for about 6 - 7 years!

Its all inclusive, all adults and fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your upcoming milestone and enjoy your vacation!

We stayed at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix a few years ago. The resort sounds like something you would enjoy-lots of walking paths, landscaping, 2 onsite golf courses, great spa. It is across the road from a mall and there is a ton of things to do in the Phoenix area. We really enjoyed our stay there. I was just looking at pictures from when we were there. The kids had a BLAST in the pools/lazy river!

They also have some great deals on cruises-would that be an option. The deals I have been seeing would be less expensive then staying in a hotel and have included airfare.

San Diego? The weather is awesome year round. Hotel Del Coronado is wonderful. Plus then you have the navy ships in San Diego, SD Zoo, Seaworld, Cruise over to Catalina Island (40 minute ocean ride), Balboa Park, and guess what.....Disneyland is only 90 minutes away. I love Disneyland.
