It is almost time and I would really like to make or purchase a countdown calendar for the kids so that they can visually see how much time is left before our trip to Disney World. I am really corny and think it would be great to have a Disney themed calendar. Anyone have one of these they either purchased or made for the kiddos and like to share some ideas? Pictures would be great also if you have any. Thanks!! :goodvibes

I love those ones form the DISign board! I'll have to remember those! I have also seen people make a paper chain and rip off a link every day up until the trip, or make your own countdown calendar with the Mickey paint chips from Home Depot. That's all I can think of right now!

I'm sorry I did not take a picture, but I got a great idea from the Dis.

I picked up the Mickey head paint samples from home depot. I used a poster board and glued down the Mickey's in straight lines. I put a countdown number on each Mickey head. My (then almost 4 year old) would use a permanent marker to cross off each day. I also decorated the board with Disney stickers.

She looked forward to this each morning. :thumbsup2

I have done it twice.

For the first one, we started with a BIG poster board. We printed out pictures of attractions, cut them to a uniformed size and glued them on the board to form the calendar. Then I covered each picture with a blank piece of paper and then covered each piece of paper with Home Depot mickey paint chips with numbers written with a sharpie for the dates. Under each HD paint chip, was a trivia question. Each night, we would pull off a paint chip to reveal a trivia question and then we pulled the piece of paper off to reveal the picture which of course is the answer to the trivia question.

For the second one, we created the calendar in Powerpoint. We printed it out and attached a Disney pin to the back, one for each day. The pins were purchased on eBay. The backing of the pin (the mickey head) was visible on the front in the square for each day. The kids took turns removing a pin each day and added them to their lanyards for trading in the parks.

Another fun thing we always do is the paper chains but we make them out of the DOT candy (the little candy dots on paper.) We use those to make the paperchains and each day they get to rip off a chain and eat it.

Wow -- what an awesome calendar! I love the pin idea!

We are currently using the mickey head paint chips from home depot. I number the heads and we taped them to the front of the refrigerator, each night the kids take turns taking one off.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all of your great ideas. I took all your ideas and mashed them into one to make mine. I couldn't remember where the Mickey paint chips were and went to Lowes thinking they were there. They were not so I ended up getting square paint chips and cutting them into Mikey. I didn't have stickers so I used my Disney Movie Club Catalog and cut out the pictures LOL!! Thanks again everyone! :)
