Okay, so I already had my heart set on 1900 Park Fare for dd6's 7th birthday dinner. And then I started reading recent reviews. In October I said "Never Mind that" to the reviews of Hollywood and Vine. Boy was I mistaken! That was beyond a doubt the worst meal on WDW property. So now I have to find a good birthday dinner for Boo and I want it to be one she will remember.

We have a party of 5, with one of us being a boy. Since we have enough days of park tickets and we are going to a water park that day, we could do a dinner in either a resort or a park, and for this situation, I would not mind a 2TS meal.

Another thing: My kids are not adventurous, so Jiko, Boma, Tusker House, Akershus would not be good fits for us.

So far, we are planning on:
Breakfasts: Ohana and Grand Floridian Cafe
Dinners: Crystal Palace, Mama Melrose's, Coral Reef, Chefs de France, Chef Mickey's, Kona

What other restaurant could we do?

You're already eating at all the places I'd suggest!

We went to 1900 PF at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb this year, and we found it as good as it's always been.

Take the reviews you read on here with a grain of salt. What one person loves, some people hate. You'll never know until you try it for yourself. I say go for it. Or maybe, go to a place like CM or CP on her b-day that you know you already like, and do 1900 PF another day.

I second that! Everything I was going to suggest is already on your "already doing " list - - but aside from that, I would suggest Crystal Palace - that's what *THIS* little girl is doing for her birthday... ok, I'm not so little (28) but still! I think it's perfect for the whole family (boys and girls, young and old) b/c EVERYONE knows pooh and enjoy/ed him at one time or another in their lives!

Her favorite restaurant is CP. . .it maight be okay for us to change the tradition of our first dinner being CP and switch out for LTT the first day.

The characters being gone may make us a little nostalgic, but I really liked the food there. And we loved the idea of family style service. All you can eat with no franzied trips to the buffet line! Come to think of it, we might just look at Garden Grill again instead of Chefs. . .

Yeah, I was going to suggest cm. It is very kid friendly, and they have a ton of choices when it comes to the menu. If it were me I would maybe do the 1900 park fare another night and cm on her bday.

If it is just the kids that aren't adventurous, the kids meals at Akershus are very "regular" choices. My DD6 ate the pizza last year. It's a great princess meal with a photo package included. We were there for DD's birthday last year. If that is the only reason you are thinking of not doing it, it might be somewhere that might actually work for you. Below is the kids menu I copied from allears.net. :)

"Princes and Princesses
(Guests ages 9 and under)
Includes Dessert, Choice of 1%milk, Bottled Water or Juice

Entrées

Grilled Chicken Breast
served with corn and boiled potatoes

Cheese Ravioli and Meatballs
served with tomato sauce

Pizza
with mozzarella

Hot Dog
with corn

Soft Drinks Available Upon Request"

Thanks! Akershus may be a good fit, especially since EMH is at EPCOT that night. Of all the evening EMHs, I think I can handle Epcot the best.

WCC at WL is a fun place. It's a little loud, but my girls enjoyed it when we were there in Aug. We had dinner at 1900 PF & didn't really like it.

Have you ever tried 50s Prime Time, my 7 year old DD just loves that place and all the antics. I also thought that the food was decent. I agree with you on H&V we will never go back there again.

Since you don't mind eating at a 2TS restaurant, why not take her to CRT? That's a perfect place for a girl's birthday. You could order her a chocolate slipper dessert, if you aren't planning to order a cake.

We did the princess lunch at Epcot last year. It was the best meal eating wise for both my girls and they had a great time. My 6yr old had pizza and the 1yr old had a hot dog with corn.

WCC would be a good choice. Now we enjoyed 1900 PF.

I thought you might want the perspective of another girl the same age, so I asked my DD who is 7 (will be eight in June). When we were there in November, we did Akershus Breakfast, CRT lunch, and 1900 Park Faire Dinner. We have also done Akershus lunch (the year prior). I asked her just now if she had to choose one for a birthday dinner, which would she choose, and she said 1900 Park Faire dinner because the "food was pretty good, but the characters put on such a funny show...I loved the step-sisters yelling at each other and getting sent to the corner, and the prince was very nice to me." (He danced with her).

When I was making the ADRs for our trip in June, we are staying off-site and I told her she could choose one meal for the trip, and she wanted breakfast at Akershus.

I will admit that I did not think the food at 1900 Park Faire was either great or terrible...it was fine. The salad was fine (just salad), the strawberry soup was pretty good, I liked the mini-desserts. I thought the meats/main dishes were kinda just eh/ok/nothing special, but nothing was terrible either. But my daughter found a lot of things she really liked, so I was happy.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I am planning on doing Akershus, after seeing the menu and Boo seeing the pictures. You all have been such a great help!

Thanks again!

Have you thought about the Biergarten? My DD7 loves that place. The food is good (great pretzel bread!), and they have live entertainment and a dance floor where my girls love to dance! When asking my DD7 about her "perfect day at Disney," this is where she picks to eat dinner every time. (And when we surprise her for her birthday in May, this is where we will go for dinner.

Just thought if your DD liked to dance and jump around a little, this might not be a bad idea...

We celebrated dd7's birthday at Chefs de France on Friday and it was fabulous -- the food was perfect for her (chicken fingers and pasta -- but very good quality) and the adults enjoyed a nice meal and bottle of wine. Remy the Little Chef came out to sing her happy birthday with the wait staff. They showed her so much attention and brought profiteroles with candles at the end. It really was wonderful for all of us. My avitar is a picture the waiter took of us with Remy, the "little chef." I highly recommend it!
