Need ideas for 8 year old birthday party - HELP!!

I've got mine convinced to go to Great Wolf Lodge instead of having parties this year. 2 nights (one for each kid-- we'll go sometime in between their birthdays, which are 6 weeks apart) will run me about $600 with taxes (still hoping for a discount code!). We usually spend about $300 per party, so I'm coming out even with a LOT less work. If you could convince them to stay one night for their birthdays, that would only be around $300. Still a bargain compared to a $500 party :thumbsup2. --Katie

I was going to suggest taking some kids to Great Wolf- I did my Daughter's 10th birthday there. She brought 5 friends- we did crafts in the room- (made fluffy flip flops) and then went down to the pool. We partied it up all night just playing in the water park and then played all the next day and I drove everyone home. I ended up getting a code for the room so it cost me $250 plus the cost of a few pizzas - I brought snacks and drinks.
