Hello!
Well, I have a graduation and a wedding reception to attend---both this weekend. Grad on Sat. night and recept on Sunday night.

The graduation is from Seminary school.....I need some ideas please. We don't have a lot of money....like pretty much none right now...but I am on staff at our church and he is also....so I need to get a gift. Please help me!! I need some ideas.

Then the reception....this is the 3rd marriage for the bride and I'm not sure if the groom has been married before or not. He is planning on moving in w/ her after the wedding....she has a house and he is in an apartment right now. What should I get them??? Thought about a themed basket idea. Can you please help me out??!

Ugh!! Why did they both have to be in the same weekend....:confused3

Thanks for any help/ideas you can give!!

A themed basket is a great idea-a movie night, useful household items,....
Something personalized with their names.

For the graduation gift, what about a nice journal. Something for thoughts, appointments, etc. You could likely find a nice leather one for around $20.

As for the wedding, if this is the bride's 3rd marriage, I don't think a gift is warranted. If you really want to give them something, what about a $25 gift certificate for a restaurant or a movie themed basked. You could get a big bowl at the dollar store, put in some microwave popcorn and big boxes of candy ($.88) from Walmart and a $5 or $10 gift card to Blockbuster.

A book of quotations would be nice for the seminarian. They could always spark a homily.

I really like the movie night idea. Walgreens has their big boxes of candy on sale this week (3 for $3). Grab some good popcorn and a great bowl. Toss it with a movie gift card.

:goodvibes

I've given the movie themed gift baskets to those "hard to shop for" folks and they loved them.

I've given a picnic basket with cutlery, plates, cups etc. all wrapped up with a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers as a gift. Makes for a nice romantic "getaway" gift. The picnic kit I bought from Linens and Things (w/ 20% sunday paper coupon) and then added the cheese and wine myself.

As for the graduation gift (boy or girl?) what about a scrapbooking kit and a disposable camera to take the photos with? You could buy an inexpensive blank scrapbook and then purchase some sheets of paper and stickers related to what the graduate is into. Tie it all up in some cellophane and voila!

For a guy, a MP3 gift certificate is a great thing, maybe to the itunes store if they have an ipod or napster.com
