Looking to do something Christmas, like lights would be nice but soo cold here! Ideas for Boston area?? or the surrounding area? I should know but drawing a blank!

Jordan's Furniture store in Avon has the "Enchanted Village" set up. It's a cute walk-through exhibit of animated dolls, bears, etc in different scenes.

I can't post a link or url yet, but if you Google Enchanted Village Jordan's Furniture it should be the first listing.

It's free and it's indoors. However, the line is long. :)

not sure how far you are willing to drive but I have always liked- La Salette Shrine in Attleboro. The lights are really nice.

Stoneham Zoo usually has a light festival inside the zoo, I do remember it being a good take! Edaville RR on the Cape or going into Town to see the Pops or the Nutcracker! Happy Holidays!

I love going to stoneham zoo. It became a family tradition now.

The Stone Zoo in Stoneham barely survived the ax this year...

Edaville was one of the first things that came to mind. The RR Museum is a shadow of its former self, and its been many years since I've been there but I understand the Christmas lights are still good.

And there is always the Boston Ballet's Nutcracker.

If your up for a drive - Bright Night at Forest Park in Springfield is cool.:santa:

You could also to the Polar Express in New Hampshire. You need to "win" their lottery to get tickets for the week-end trips, but you can usually get them for mid-week just by calling. Not sure if you are looking for plans for adults or adults and kids both.

There are lots of performances in the Portsmouth, NH area as well. This link lists just some of them--

Drive out 95 south to Attleboro. Go to the LaSallette Shrine (I'm sure I butchered the spelling of the shrine). They put up the most beautiful display!!!
Also, there are the lights on Boston Common & First night celebrations.
Have a god time!
I'll be in NJ with my daughter, Erin, & her family. Brian is living up there, now, too & will be joining us. I'm looking forward to spending time with them, even though I'm NOT looking forward to the cold weather. (I have unearthed all of my old winter clothes-problem is, I've lost weight, so they're big. Just have to manage).

We loved Bright night but the traffic was horriable. Be prepared to for an hour just to get in but totally worth it

I'm going to have night terrors again now. It took us 4 hours to get through Bright Nights. We went on a weekend and it was insane. I would not advise this late in the year.

I've found that just driving around can be fun. Put on a local station that plays Christmas music (and we know there's plenty of them in Boston). Then, just wander aimlessly for a few hours. Take the less traveled roads and just see what people do to their houses. I think you'll love the results.

there is always the lights and trees on Boston COmmon..................although the economy may have downsized that some.

I used to love it as a kid and teen

Yeah I havent heard any good thiungs about stoneham this year. I guess they hiked up their prices and as not nice as it has been in previous years. We decided to skip this year.

There us a Harry Potter exhibit at the Museum of Science - not exactly Christmasy and it's expensive - but it looks really cool
