Need Hotel Suggestions, Please!

Hello, all! I'm going to DL in December for just two days, and need help in figuring out what hotel to pick. Criteria:

* Would like to spend no more than $150/night
* Prefer a hotel with own shuttle to DL (not shared shuttle w/other hotels)
* Does not have to be fancy, but must be clean!

Will you let me know your suggested hotels, and why you like them? Thanks, everyone.

Recently we have been staying at the Best Western Park Place Inn, and have gotten a mini-suite for under $150 a night. Why? Because it is the absolute closest hotel to the DLR gates - except for parts of the Grand Californian.

The BWPPI was clean and quiet. And close.

Candy cane inn, with out hesitation.

Close enough to walk, but offers a shuttle (not shared with other hotels).
Breakfast (good con't. breakfast- plentiful and fresh) is included.
Very nicely decorated, beautiful grounds and very clean.

now how did I know that one was going to be there lol...it amazes me how different the spectrum is when it comes to this property...mostly people love it or they dont want to go back...never so so ...my suggestion is Sheraton Anaheim...they have their own shuttle and they are there like clockwork...I learned the times they leave and pick up and Ive never had to really wait for them...and the beds are so amazing expecially for tired bodies after being in the park...and its quiet

I think the drastic difference in opinions is, people that are new to Disneyland expect more from the candy cane then what it is. People that have been to the area know that most of the hotels/ motels close enough to walk from are older motels. The people that are new to Disneyland see all the great reviews, then expect it to be a grand hotel. Its all about setting your expectations.

If you just compare it to the other motels in the area, its a very nice property. If you are comparing it to a grand hotel in a big city, you'll be very disappointed.

we have always stayed at the Best Western Anahiem Inn right across the street from DL on Harbor BLVD. Were staying there this December 6th-14th and we would not stay anywhere els except for maybe the Best Western Park Place Inn but that's it. It's super close. right next to the Denny's and it's very clean!!!!

The Candy Cane Inn is almost always the #1 hotel in Anaheim on Tripadvisor.com (it is now, I just checked). We and our friends booked 7 rooms there recently. All of us have stayed in many of the hotels within walking distance of the parks and CCI would now certainly be at or near the top of our lists. I agree with hbltimes2, keep in mind, it is really a motel, not a hotel, outside access etc.

Reasons why we like CCI:

* $92 per night per room with AAA discount on Veteran's Day Weekend
* It has a free CCI ONLY shuttle (I agree...a dedicated shuttle is important)
* Is an easy walk to parks and DTD
* Clean rooms (on the small side but nicely appointed and clean)
* Comfortable beds (feather duvets too - the pillows were small but they were plentiful - we bring our own anyway though)
* Free parking
* Friendly staff
* Store very close
* Free continental breakfast (it is decent and can be delivered to your room if you go with the Deluxe)
* Restaurants close
* Pretty grounds, hot tub and (smallish) pool
* Free candy canes
* Laundry (not that we necessarily do laundry on vacation but it was important when my husband's only jacket got beer spilled all over it by an over enthusiastic "cheerer" when we went to Medieval Times!)
* I stayed there as a kid and it is neat to be able to enjoy it just as much so many years later (won't mention how many )

hubby and I always stay at redroof inn which has a shuttle to disney. We paid 54.99 a nite last December and in the summer-fall its around 74.99-79.99 for 2 people which isn't too bad... Shuttle is 6 dollars per person for an all day pass...

Remember there are actually few hotels outside of on site.....the Sheraton, Hilton etc. The rest are motor Inns or Motels.

I agree however the Candy Cane Inn is way overated. It is a strip motel with a lot of nice plants. The breakfast is mediocre the pool is so small no more than 15 kids can fit in the pool comfortably. Trip review boards play into this and the motel does also by charging way more than the room is worth because of a good rating. I recommend it for couples/adults but completely useless for families. It is what it is but it is not worth what they charge for a room when there are so many other rooms just as nice or nicer for a cheaper cost.
