I am wanting to stay at an MCO area hotel the night before the cruise. Any suggestions?? Also wondering what type of shuttles, if any, they may have for getting around for that one day.

Just wondering if they can take us to anything in the area so we would have something to do that day. I really do not want to rent a car for 1 day.

THANKS!! :p :bounce: :bounce:

I have a list of hotels at my web site...

www.dcltribute.com/lodging/MCO

All hotels near the airport have a complimentary shuttle to/from the airport, but there's nothing of interest around the airport, so they wouldn't take you anywhere else that's interesting.

Many folks have reported getting decent hotels by bidding about $30 for a three-star hotel by using priceline.com.

Good morning mcgrawfan.

You could hang out at the airport. Experience the tram ride from all the different cars. Shop at overpriced kiosks (just like at the theme parks). Watch security examine everyone's shoes (a must if you have a shoe and/or foot fetish). Wait at baggage claim and try to match the luggage with the traveler. Remove the toilet paper from any given restroom stall and then just wait around. Dine on freshly stale burgers. Drink something brown. Try to find a relaxed parent. The possibilities are endless...

Although I know that remark was tongue-in-cheek, I still wanna point out that you can't freely access the trams anymore. Prior to 9/11/01 you could have done so. But the trams are beyond the security checkpoints and you can't get out there without an appropriate ticket.

LOL, BD and thanks for the information Dave.

We're thinking about staying at the Hyatt right in the airport. No need to shuttle anywhere and from what I understand, DCL will pick up your bags early on embarking morning if you are using them for your transportation to port.

However, I am still only able to find a low rate of $144. for one night, plus we would have to eat there which is expensive too from what I hear.

I've been researching the other hotels on Dave's website in the airport area. We don't want to rent a car either. We would have to rent a shuttle van (there are 5 of us) to get to port, which may end up being cheaper than DCL.

Although we have been to DW before we have never rented a car and I am not really familar with the area. Would it be possible to take a taxi anywhere w/o paying an arm and a leg?? I really would like to check out that outlet mall with the designer stores. Does anyone know what it is called?? I have seen it on our way to IoA. Also would like to check out Race Rock.

mcgrawfan, you need to rent a car. The distance are sprawling. WDW is 20 miles from the airport. WDW itself is enormous, and if you go to any malls or other International Drive attractions, you'll drive usually at least five miles per stop. Taxi fares will eat you alive, especially with multiple stops.

The traffic on I-4 can sometimes be bad, but otherwise, you won't encounter much trouble. And you'll be fine with the map your rental car company gives you.
