I have booked 2 rooms at CSR. Thinking about upgrading to a 2 bedroom villa..

Last night I was looking through DIS and decide to check out the POP picture thread. BIG mistake, becase the kids decide to check it out too. Guess where they want to stay now? They figure that we can have 3 rooms at POP for the price of 2 at CSR and everyone will have their own bed, plus they think it looks really cool. I tried to convince them that it might be noisy and there might be long lines for buses.... Even tried the no slide.. they don't care because we're going to Typhoon Lagoon.

HELP!!! Should I give in? How are the beds compared to CSR? Do the buses get packed? Should I give in to the pressure of the little people?

OMG if you have the 40% off code go for it! The rooms for standard would only be 49.40 nightly or $150 nightly plus tax for three! I know you can book three rooms with this offer and three rooms would be as cheap as one room at moderates!

The busses will be fuller at the Pop then at Coronado Springs. CS is a convention resort, so many people staying there are not going to the parks, so the busses do not tend to be as full as most other resorts. And the pool area at CS is much nicer. How long are you going for? You might consider doing a split-stay between the two resorts and make everyone happy.

I haven't stayed at Pop, but I've visited there and I couldn't believe how crowded the buses were. Same for the food court. Wouldn't stay there if I was paid to.

Now, on the other hand I am biased because I love CSR. The buses aren't as crowded and the resort has a lot of lovely manicured grounds and SPACE. This is the main reason we stay at CSR. I find the beds really comfortable compared to the newer resorts such as AKL and BVC Villas.

I guess your decision depends on whether everyone truly wants their own bed and if you want an in room fridge. Fridges are free at CSR but you have to pay for them at Pop.

You don't mention the ages of your kids, but are there enough adults so there won't be any young kids on their own in a room?

The buses are not horrible at POP. It helps to leave early. The food court is fine, we try and eat at an off time when it's less busy, but we've also been there when it's busy and it wasn't horrible. You need patience when you're at Disney! The beds at POP aren't the greatest, but I would rather have my own bed than a more comfortable one at CSR.

We have stayed at Pop and my kids would choose Pop over ANY other resort. They LOVE it. We have 6 kids so staying there in 3 rooms is GREAT because if the $$$. We have never had any problems with the buses.

We love Pop! The service is good and the atmosphere is fun. There is nothing wrong with staying at a value resort! (you are still on property and in the Disney Magic! ) The transportation is good, becasue the resort is so big they always have a lot of buses running! My son and I Always love going there.
Did you price the suites at Pop? Might still be a good deal with 40% off?

My sister and I stayed at Pop with our children in 2005. We loved it. We had two connecting rooms and it was great. We didn't have any trouble with the buses or the food court. The children loved the pools and the playground. They loved all of the icons around the resort. The past two years we have stayed at POR but I would return to Pop if I could convince my dh to try it. He has never been there but he isn't sure he would enjoy it there.

This has been my exact dilemma lately! I booked POFQ and the kids want to stay at Pop. We stayed there for 2 nights in October and had a great time. I posted a thread asking about Pop during the summer, and was very reassured by everyone's responses. It's a really fun place and we have decided to switch our ressies. I say "go for it" if the kids want to stay there -- I figure one day they will be all grown up and it will just be my husband and me and then we can stay wherever we want :) .

We stayed there last year for 6 nights. my family of four and my parents two adjoining rooms. I personally when we stay there pay the few extra dollars to be close to main pool, food court, and bus stop. We love it there!

Ive stayed at the POP three times. My kids love it. It can tend to be a little crowded at the buses and in the food court, but Disney complies with this with extra buses. I think this is a great resort:grouphug: for the kids and whats more important.

Really one thing to consider .. you don't say what time of year you're going..

I like Pop a LOT and I'll be staying there soon.. but I would not choose to stay there during a true peak season -- summer / Christmas / Easter etc.

In that case, I'd pick CSR hands down.

Pop can be plenty of fun to stay at when it's around 60 to 75% of capacity.. When it gets much busier than that.. it's a zoo and I don't care for it.

The big diff is when you stay at CSR, you can eat some counter service at the Pool Bar, avoiding the trip to the main hall and the crowds there sometimes.. and the buses are generally not as full as other resorts.

If it helps w/ pricing, we're paying $66.xx for a POP Thursday night, April 3rd.
That's WITH tax AND the 40% percent off code. So, three times that would be closer to $200 :)

I was assuming we had a night at POR reserved and was looking forward to try that place, but since the reservation was never actually made (DOH) POP looks like a blast. And for half the price :) I'll be using the extra $50 to PPP.

(Happy ferret dance)

They are only young once, and the plus side you get three rooms. More elbow room!
I have not thought the buses at values have been bad. (Granted I have never stayed at Pop.)
I would prefer CSR. However, I would give in and give it a go! :cool1:

We have only stayed at Pop (in 2007) and CSR (in 2006)...both about the same lenghth of time (10-11 days). I do have to say I love CSR but for us, POP is more "kid friendly." So as an adult I would pick CSR but my kids (7 and 9) have asked to stay at POP next time. So our 2008 reservations are for POP. I would agree that the busses and food court seemed less crowed at CSR but we liked the food better at POP and didn't mind the busses at POP. We were there during the Sept free dining period (both times) and I think we only missed 1 bus at POP due to a long line. I do like that POP has a "line" for the bus where CSR people just crowd on - doesn't matter when you got to the bus stop. At the end of the day POP seemed to have longer bus lines to head back to the hotel but I was pretty impressed with the Disney staff calling up extra busses to come lighten the load.

At CSR we were at a 2nd floor room facing some greenery and it was very peaceful - never heard our neighbors. At POP we choose a bottom floor room, not too far from the food court or busses, and also didn't really have a noise problem. Every once in awhile we could hear a really loud family walk by - but it was very minimal and nothing we lost sleep over (when people are all excited and walking the hallways they sometimes forget how close they are to those in the rooms). If I was going for peace, quiet and calm then I would pick CSR over POP. But with the age of my kids - peace and quiet doesn't happen often anyways.

I liked the refrigerator in the CSR room but we made due without one at POP (we just got one of those styrofoam igloo things and that met our needs.) I did find the laundry room at POP to be more crowded than CSR but I don't think something like that would sway me to go to a different hotel when my kids really loved POP (they were happily swimming with their dad while I was in the laundry room anyways.) So the way I look at it is - it is a Disney vacation and it is meant to be fun. I loved that my kids were so happy at POP and they won't be kids forever so I can stay somewhere else at a later time. I enjoyed POP as much as I enjoyed CSR - they were just a different experience. I obviously enjoyed POP enough to re-book there for this Sept. Oh, and I didn't mention, we thought the staff was great at both....more fun and interactive at POP.

You'll have a great time where ever you end up. It's Disney, afterall!!

Thanks for the imput. We are going the 2nd-3rd week of august. The kids are 15, 14, 13, 8 and 7. I have a 20% off code, but still hoping for the 40% off code.

You know that you can't get three rooms to connect at Pop Century, right? A two bedroom villa will only be at a DVC resort and will not be the same as the All Stars Family Suites.

At best, you will get two rooms to connect at Pop Century. That would mean four double beds. At All Stars Family Suite, you would get one queen bed, one double sleeper sofa, one twin sized sleeper chair and one smaller sized ottoman bed. The last three are all convertible beds that appear to be furniture during the day.

A two bedroom villa is way different that these. Full sized kitchen, master bedroom with jacuzzi tub and king sized bed. Queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. Either two queen beds or one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa in the second bedroom. Washer and dryer in the villa.

not only did I give into Pop, but also ASSR:scared1: We've never been to either but as soon as the kids saw the photos -- my ship was sunk. Since it is their first time -- I gave in. DH was actually relieved as the Deluxe I had chosen was way more rthan the two rooms at either of these!
