We just purchased a Kodak Easy Share 6.1 mp. Pics are not coming out very good. What are good tips to take great pics that are indoors and close up?

Please provide us with the model number so we can help better. Also, please describe what is bad about them. There can be a number of reasons with different solutions.

Indoor shots are very tricky for even the best cameras, so do not expect too much. Also, are you using the flash? If not, that could help. To see a real improvement on indoor shots, a DSLR is needed. The lens on a p&s camera just does not let enough light in to be able to capture the shot without upping the ISO (grainy look) or using a slow shutter speed (bluring from motion). A tripod or bracing the camera should also help.

For close up, you might need to turn on a macro mode. Every camera is different and some are just not capable of macro shots.

If you are limited by your camera, you might want to consider returning it and trying something else. Kodak are not ususally known for great low light performance. Fuji supposedly has some nice ones out, and I always say look at the Canons.

(That is all of the posting for me until Sunday. I am off to WDW in five minutes!!! No parks, but hopefully plenty of pics.)

while hers is 2 yrs old and only 4 mp my daughter's easy share can't capture low light no matter what mode you use. some i have been able to get to at least seeable but still not very good with editing, some not ,the worst are from outside under a dense canopy of trees( rainforest) ...so unless they have made some real improvements it might be better to get another brand...my eldest's canon 7.1 mp a600(610, what ever is the 7mp) gets great low light shots and was around 250ish last summer but that is the only other P&S i have personal knowledge of.
