Okay, I'm trying to get some recent articles with regards to eating after a workout. My impression has always been not to eat for up to 60 min. after a workout. What have you heard and could you back it up with studies/articles?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My trainer says you MUST eat within 30 minutes of your last rep. I don't have any research though. He just insists we do it.

I usually eat within 30 minutes of my workouts. I'm usually STARVING too. In the morning I workout @ 5:00 am, so I need to eat breakfast before I go to work. In the afternoon when I work out after work I grab a sensible snack after I work out. I don't know much about the research, but I do know that if I don't refuel I feel drained. I also drink tons of water before and after every work out.

i have been told by fitness center trainers to eat within an hour, and to make sure when you eat it includes protein

Oh, you MUST eat following a workout. 20 minutes is ideal, but certainly within 30 minutes when possible. And when you are talking post-workout food, remember that Protein is President.

Interestingly enough, I just saw an article linked today (from yahoo? I can't remember) that states that unless you're an elite athlete, most people could benefit from limiting carbs for up to several hours after a workout. I had always read that it's good to eat immediately following a workout to replenish your body, but this study shows that it may be better for weight loss to keep your body in a calorie deficit.

I think,30 minutes is best. But,if not possible at list 20 minutes is ideal.

I don't have an exact web address but I subscribe to Runner's World magazine and they frequently discuss this very issue, (when and what to eat). You can go to runnersworld.com and use the search box if you have the time.
