Need help with XP!........

My computer runs ME but the one we bought for the kids runs XP. I know nothing about it. The biggest problem we have right now is you cant open Word docs on the machine running XP it uses different office programs? Can anyone tell me what I need to do if I can even do anything. Im going to post this on the Tech board also.

I haven't had much luck with it either. Good luck! Most of my programs from my previous computer DO NOT run on XP! They want us to spend more money buying new programs.

I have XP (upgraded from ME) and Office 2000. It opens Word docs (and all progeams and files) fine that were saved under ME. Not sure, Kev.

A lot of computers do not come pre-loaded with Microsoft Office. What software do you have loaded on your new computer?

I moved from me to xp. much more stable, same docs open in both.

XP probably came with Works Suite, right? No MS Word there. Bummer. Can you open word docs in Notepad?

I ran up against the same thing, but was lucky. I work from home about 15 hrs/week, and Work bought me a copy of Office for my home PC.

Kevin, there is a converter (sent this all to you in my PM reply) that you can use for the time being, but honestly it would be easier to get a copy of office on your computer.
