Need help with transportation from Universal to Disney and a trip to Tampa for a day!

We are thinking about renting a car for the day to drive to Tampa to see my husband's grandmother while we are staying at the Polynesian. Can we rent a car at the Polynesian and return it at the Polynesian when we return that night? Or do I have to go to the TTC to rent a car? Is it alot more money to pay for this convenience?

I am asking because I am looking for the most economical way to do this. We are going to Take Tiffany towncar from the airport(Orlando) to the Hard Rock Hotel. Then after 3 days take a cab to the Polynesian. Some time there we want to rent a car for a day to visit grandmom in Tampa. Use Tiffany towncar to take us back from the Poly to the airport. Does this make sense? I figured it would be $100 for Tiffany, about $40 for cab and then $50 to rent a car for the day---total $190 vs car rental of 350 for 10 days. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

You cannot rent a car at the Poly, you can rent from the car car center or the Swalphin. They will provide a shuttle to and from the Poly. The onsite agencies are Alamo/National.
As to the rates, go to their site and plug in codes from www.mousesavers.com

BUT, for what you are paying for a one day rental, Tiffany and a cab, you might be better off renting for your entire stay, it just might be more cost effective. My recent rental for 10 days was 205.54 total.

How did you get such a great rate for a car for 10 days? Everything I have been looking into is at least 300-350 for a mid-size car. This is for October am I looking too early, will better discounts be available later? I was using Mousesavers codes.
