We're purchasing tickets through my mother's teaching benefits. It gives us a substantial discount and then directs us to disney.go page with the new prices.

If we choose e ticket we will obviously have a paper ticket. It says we can take it right to the main gate?

If we choose to have them shipped, do we get a hard ticket? How does this work? We'd rather have hard tickets...

Many people make the assumption that if they pay to have their tickets shipped, they will get hard plastic tickets, but this is not the case.

The hard plastic tickets can be purchased at grocery stores or The Disney Store, or occasionally come with package purchases, such as through AAA, Costco, or through Disney itself.

If you order online, you'll get the paper tickets. I'd just get the e-tickets since they are free! You'll print out the paper at home, take it directly to the turnstile (no need to go to the ticket booths), and they will trade you for the cardstock tickets that you'll use for the rest of your trip. It's fast, easy, and, again, FREE.

Thank you :)

I was sorta hoping since it's coming from Disney itself it will be the hard tickets. I'm not sure why I care, but I do LOL

So the other tickets they'll trade us for will be cardstock? Hmmm

Yup, they are the size of a credit card and about as thick as a business card. The only reason I could see wanting a plastic one instead of a paper one is if you were afraid they would get wet on a water ride, but considering you should be carrying tickets in a secure location, that shouldn't really be an issue. The tickets that you buy from the ticket booths are also paper. The plastic cards are more of a special exception, not the rule.

I got the hard credit card size card for my tickets last year when I ordered a vacation package through the DL website. Is that just with the package?

Yup. As I said earlier, they seem to come with packages from AAA, Disney, or Costco. They are not ALWAYS plastic, so if for some reason you absolutely HAD to have a plastic ticket, don't order a package just to do so, because there have been plenty of disappointed people on these boards that expected to get plastic ones and posted that they got paper ones. I'm just saying that they CAN come with packages.

Oh ok, gotcha. Thanks :)

I guess I'm terrified of them getting wet or ripped, but we'll work that all out!

We aren't very careful with our tickets, and we've never had trouble with the cardstock ones. Just print out your ticket, take it to the turnstile and they'll give you the cardstock ones. I usually just keep them all in my wallet. You don't need to have them out once you enter the parks except for fastpass machines. Your other option is to get lanyards that have a ticket pocket and keep them there. If your family collects pins, you'd want these anyway.

IF you are staying at a Disney property, you have the option of putting your ticket on your room key card if you want the hard plastic option.

Yeah now that I'm thinking back I'm remembering them being cardstock :lmao:

I'll have my husband hang on to them all. :scared1::rotfl:

What's the teacher discount? I am a HS teacher in the elk grove unified district and I haven't heard of this before.

It would be through her employer, not through Disneyland itself. For example, our union sells discount tickets ($4 off, "whoo-hoo" lol). Her employed may have a similar arrangement with Disney, but she'd have to ask her school.

Btw, if you're concerned about the cardstock ones there are a few tricks to keep them in nice shape through a long trip. Put them in a baseball card sleeve (a stiff one). They can still be scanned through it, but fit nicely into your pocket. Also a good way to carry yours + kids. Or throw them into a ziploc bag along with your phone when you go onto water rides like GRR and Splash. We usually do both when we don't have AP's.

We're in Utah. It's through the union, I believe. It's not CRAZY amazing, but better than any of the discounts on any of the sites I could find :goodvibes We saved a good amount so we're happy!!

Those are fantastic ideas! At our local theme park we do take ziplocks..I dunno why I didn't just think of that. :headache: But I LOVE the baseball card sleeve idea!! :lovestruc:worship:
