Hi, I already have my rooms linked into the DIS river network, but I have a problem. I went to HOST class on building rivers today, but I didn't have time to wait for next class, so I lurked at the door a moment. I heard her say "this is how you can have one river cross over another river part" and she had a crossroads set up with a shallow part in the middle. I didn't catch exactly how she did it, I had just come in and left.

i am making another, short ride and I want it to cross over part of my dis ride (but not be connected to network). Just come into the same room and cross over part of it. can anyone help me do this??? I'm hoping to do it before close! Arg!

I guess it's too late for tonight..but if anyone can tell me how to do it, that would be great so I can work on it tomorrow. TY!

just use the shallow as the intersect and make sure the water on the otherside flows the right direction. If you don't use water on the other side it can be also be used for a tight corner.

I tried that, but i'm not sure how to rotate the shallow. I had one river (call it "river 1") set up to go a certain way, and I tried to cross it with a shallow going into a teleport (for river 2). But when I tried River 1, instead of going on its normal course, when it got to the shallow part (which was supposed to be the crossover point for River 2), it turned and went on the path of River 2, and did not go the way it originally did.

Maybe you and I can meet up in VMK and you can help me. I think I need some hands-on help, so you can see what I'm trying to accomplish and show me what to do. Would you mind that? My hours of vmk are usually 7pm to close EST. I am on and off during that time, but that's usually the only time slot I have. However, if you get on earlier, I can arrange to get up early and meet you. i am nocturnal, so I usually sleep till about 3 or 4pm. Then my fiance is on vmk until he goes to work at 7.

I would greatly appreciate in-game help from you or anyone else who knows how to do this, and I will give you something nice for your trouble :)

I will also play with this tomorrow when I have more time. I did not have much time to work on this one thing tonight. I may be able to figure it out. The problem is, that river 1 is part of the DIS river network, and I don't want to mess it up and break the cycle in case anyone comes into the room from another ride room.

If I am correct in my thinking, the only problem is that you would have to have at least 1 straight piece past the shallow section heading into the teleporter *since you did say it was already heading into the teleporter, and not turned*. Because I'm not sure if the teleporter is really considered to be "actual" river rather just what it is, a teleporter. Therefore, it wouldn't recognize the shallow piece as going into the telporter but as a turn to the other river, therefore takes the sharp turn as was mentioned in the other post. If you add 1 more straight piece going into the teleporter, then it should work.

This is my theory, and sounds good to me, based on what you were saying. lol. Hope it works out for ya.

drat, that means I have to move the whole river. Maybe i'll just forget it...we will see later this afternoon I guess!

I have a straight river run in my new room that circles around & crosses it's self by way of a set of teleporters.

This doesn't sound too fair to the other DIS River builders. There the DIS Builders will be, waiting in their River sections to greet people, and the people are not coming because they have already been detoured or better yet, hijacked, onto someone other builder's personal ride.

Might I suggest some sweet ropes in between river rides?

Nevermind guys, thanks for the help but I decided to forget the crossover and just put the other part of the river in the corner of the room (the pirate room). I made the other three rooms part of the network anyway! And cat-herder, I already used the method of a crossover with tunnels myself, I just think there is a way to cross over with a shallow part.

And Tampa, once someone showed me how to do it, since I had everything set up except the one shallow piece, it would have taken about 2 seconds to get it into position, and if in that 2 seconds someone came through and stopped, they would be moving again soon.

"Your ride car has temporarily stopped. Please remain seated with arms and legs inside the vehicle. We will continue moving again shortly".

Or something

I don't think she was trying to merge the 2 rivers just cross one over the other.

I went to the river class but was muling in the other window and missed some of it.

Mia, if you find out how to do it I would be intereted in knowing.
In my briar patch room, I'm trying to also cross the river but with the teleporter and I've had to move the river something like 3 times already and have to do it again. :(

DCSMickeyMan was nice enough to come and help, and toghether we figured out how to do it. I'm probably not doing it, at least not on the DIS network (maybe on my new, unconnected ride) because when a rider gets to the crossover point, they will stop and need to click on the next part of the river to keep going. Not everyone will know this and may get stuck. The way to do it is to put the shallow part where it crosses, and have the water flow OPPOSITE of the path that it lines up with. Then, either way you come, you will stop and have to click ahead to keep moving. So I'll figure out if I'm gonna do it on my river, but certainly not on the DIS network b/c I don't want ppl to get stuck and not know what to do. I could put up a photo with the explanation, but a lot of ppl probably would not read it.

So, that is how it is done, if anyone wants to do it and does not understand, I will be glad to meet you and show you.

Thanks for all help!
