I already have 7 nights at SSR for the first week in May and want to stay (try) another resort...At 7 months out I call MS and tell them that I'd like to switch my reservation to BCV (for example). What are the implications with points? Is this considered a cancellation?

If the room is available at the alternate resort, it will be immediately booked. Yes, it would result in the cancellation of your stay at SSR. But remember you can cancel any DVC resort booking at any time with no penalty as long as its greater than 30 days before the check-in date.

If the room isn't available at BCV, you can always go on the waitlist for your stay. Or, if you can get 3-4 consecutive days at BCV, consider splitting your stay between the two resorts, and waitilisting for the days you cannot immediately get.

May isn't a particularly busy time, so the chances of you getting the ressie right away are pretty good.

Hi,

Are the point values the same?? They should be. If they are, you shouldn't have a problem switching over depending on availibility!! Good luck!!
