I just started Weight Watchers and I am trying to figure out how to maintain control over my food during our upcoming trip in December. One of my ideas is for my DH and I to split some meals. We are eating at a few places we haven't tried before and I have no idea what the portion sizes are. Can someone tell me if the portion sizes at the following places are large enough to share?

Mama Melrose's - Splitting a starter salad and flat bread pizza?
Tusker House - Splitting Turkey Wrap and Corn chowder?
Liberty Tree Tavern - Splitting starter salad and the Sandwich heard around the World.
Sunshine Seasons-splitting the Rotisserie Chicken Flat bread?
Cosmic Rays - splitting the chicken and rib combo meal?

Any help is appreciated!

This is pretty much my plan when dh and I go in May... The portions, for the most part, at WDW are huge! We always wasted food or felt like we were going to pop the rest of the day... So we decided to split a lot of our meals. Exceptions will be if I just want a salad or something that isn't as large of a portion - then we'll get our own.

Most restaurants at WDW have fabulous salads! So I do that more often (I LOVE salad), and I'm sure they'll be happy to accomodate your eating by offering you low fat/fat free dressing or removing certain ingredients from the salad. Another good tip would be to order of the appetizer menu (given everything isn't fried), the portions are smaller and the price is right!

Yet another of my many eating 'round the World tips is to bring your own food for breakfast and snacks. Grab some cereal, breakfast bars, shakes or other foods that fit into your diet for breakfast and some pretzels, nuts or other snacks that will work for you if you need a little something in between meals.

I think your plan sounds great! I'd suggest getting ice water as soon as you sit down, too. BTW, at Liberty Tree Tavern they do an awesome field greens salad w/strawberry vinegarette dressing that I think would be a very good choice. I always order the crabcake without the sauce there. The crabcake is pan-seared as opposed to fried and it was almost all crab, not filler.

Also, if you are doing a starter salad and not using a heavy dressing, you may want to get one of those for each of you, so that you will fill up on points friendly veggies and your meal will hold you over longer.

Be sure to count your APs for all the walking you will do. I typically figure out how much time we spent on our feet in a day, subtracted out about 1/2 that time for waiting in lines, and then counted 1/2 of the time that was left as walking time and took the APs for that.

Have a great time. The awesome thing about WW is there is nothing you can't eat. By sharing anything you eat with DH you are getting the satisfaction of eating it, but at 1/2 the points cost. I did this with a friend in August when we got a bagel with cream cheese at Main Street Bakery. Also, there is fresh cut fruit available at most places. A great, low-point pick-me-up. Also the sugar free frozen strawberry bars are a great 1 pt treat. I am so excited for you. Just wait til you see how much better you will feel at the end of this trip, when you aren't bloated and your clothes aren't tight and you still ate lots of yummy stuff in the "World". :cheer2:
