Need help with planning my potential 2010 trip

When shoul I go to Disneyworld next?

  • Go as soon as you are able! June 2010 sounds great!

  • Wait for September with potential free dining, and a year gap to get excited for the next trip

  • Hold of completely until you have settled down with jobs, which means school holidays only

  • A completely different time of year (please suggest in thread)

Right here is the story:

My boyfriend has never been to Disneyworld before (he has now been to Disneyland Paris, and LOVED it! :lovestruc) and we are planning on going together sometime soon. However due to both of us being students (and my financial situation), we have had to hold off going until potentially 2010. The only problem with this is that I haven't been to Disneyworld in 4 years, and I am going this september! However would a trip in June 2010 (to coinside from our graduations from Uni) be too soon from my september trip? Should I wait 'till later in the year, potentially september next year, but the timing might be terrible (with getting jobs after uni). Should I try to hold off for free dining or a good deal? Will the weather be ok?

Help me people!

Good Morning Kate: I think you should go as soon as you can. June 2010 sounds like a great time to celebrate graduating from school. Sure, it will be hot, but I bet it won't be any hotter than September this year. You can figure out lots of ways to deal with the heat. I think June sounds better, and then it won't interrupt with the great new jobs you're going to get after graduating.

Kate, your fifth option.....

Land/Sea Combo

Sea dates would December 12-16, 2010 on the Wonder.

Hmmmmm....do those dates sound familiar?
:)

:lmao:

I would love to (the 16th is my birthday) but I think it is slightly out of my budget! Maybe 1.5.....

OK, maybe that's MY plan.

But, since I believe you are coming in a couple of months, maybe you could consider making your tickets an Annual Pass (if you haven't already) and then they should still be valid for June 10. Then, you could consider the Tables in Wonderland card to reduce food costs 20%. You could use the TIW card for your upcoming trip, as well as June 2010.

I love free dining, but for me the better deal has always been the room discount, or the recent 7 for 4 deal. With free dining, you really have to work pretty hard to get your value - taking advantage of EVERY table service, EVERY quick service, EVERY snack, and for me it was pretty stressful. We are not huge eaters, so it was too much for us. Also, we like to order appetizers and split desserts, have salads and split entrees, and those options don't work well on the dining plan.

Weather in June should be a little cooler than the weather now - in the early part of June in the 80s and 90s. Also, if you book at the beginning of June the crowds should be a little lighter, as US school holidays don't really start until the end of the first week.

Good luck with your decision!

June for definite!

I think it would be a great way for you and Murray to celebrate your years of hard study before you start in the world of work. :thumbsup2

I don't want to vote but I noticed that if you waited until you have a job then it has to be during the school hols? Is that due to one of you going into teaching? If so I would go for as early in June as you can - as someone else said fewer American kids are out and hardly any Brits. You may get a good deal if you go 'out of season' esp. if the economy doesn't pick up much in the next 6-7 months.

I would agree with Kathy tho as we would love to have you guys come on the cruise too :cloud9: Could you try and get your family to pay for that bit as a graduation pressie ;)

It is a tough choice having all those restictions, I am so thankful both our jobs allow us to have pretty much a free reign on when we choose to go (although I am still a bit bummed we couldn't go in Oct for our Birthdays as DH's work schedule was mega busy Oct 2009, however now it looks as though Sept will be worse and that's when we are going now ) I hope something comes along to make your decision a bit easier

Hi Bex!

Yes, I do want to become a teacher, I am currently going into to my 3rd year of my degree, then I will do a PGCE year next and hopefully qualify to be a primary school teacher.

I couldn't promise to do the cruise until after I know if I have a PGCE place for next year, and see how much my student budget can afford! I might request a quote in September/Oct when I would know if I might get into my top choice uni and the term dates.

If you want my mom to help fun my cruise, she is the poster right above you (Suzycute), she's the one to nag! :lmao:
