My parents are going to Southern California to visit my brother and attend a weekend of organ concerts in January. They will be in CA 17 days.

Since they "have everything they need" and said "don't buy us a Christmas present this year" I'm thinking of getting them something to do with their trip.

I thought of Disneyland Tickets but if I order them from Disney.com they won't be here by X-mas and I'm not 100% sure they want to go there. My brother is getting them Universal tix, because he can get them at a discount.

So my question---What can I get them???? I thought DisneyDollars so they could buy their own tix at DCA or DL. Or maybe Travelers checks or something for spending money?!

My parents are always so good to us I want to give them something they will really appreciate.

So creative minds~can you help me out?

Since you mentioned that you are not sure if the want to visit DL I think your idea of Traveler's Checks is a good idea. Or one of those Visa gift cards. Maybe you could put some kind of "travelers package" together (I love making gift baskets) put in the stuff that people usually forget to pack.

What about making a donation to their favorite charity in their name?

How abt sending something to their room, to make it feel "homey". A nice Christmas flower arrangement, fruit basket, or something.

Is there something you can have done for them while they are away???

Maybe have the house cleaned ( walls scrubed rugs shampooed etc)

Or maybe some painting or something???

Get a gift certificate to one of the chain restaurants in the area, that way you can buy it now and don't have to wait for it to be sent. They will enjoy their dinner out!

All very good ideas - but a couple questions. Where do I get a prepaid Visa/Mastercard?? Or would Traveller's checks be better? Where do I get those? AAA?

They are all set with luggage and what they want/need done in their house, they do.

Keep those ideas coming!

I am just sort of thinking here................and of course I am not familiar with Southern California....but recently my daughter honeymooned in California and they did some tours of wineries???? and would they enjoy that??

I always get my travelers checks at AAA.....but how about this? Do they have a membership to AAA??? I give my grown daughters a membership every year... you never know when you need road assistance.. also, AAA sells movie tickets discounted, something like that if they enjoy going to the movies...

This is probably not going to help you, buy may give someone else an idea. My dad and his wife are extremely hard to buy for, but she likes dance and music. I am making reservations for a dinner theater and my stepbrother is going to take her for me. (they live in another state). They will be seeing A Christmas Carol and having a 6-course meal along with it. There is also some other things they can do-not sure exactly what all. I think the grounds are all decorated with lights, music, nativity, train rides and lots of other things to do or look at. I think this is something she will really enjoy. I just wish I could go. Maybe someone else can use this idea.
