I have already seen the packing list on allears and am trying to narrow down what I need to pack for my DD who will be 20months at the time of our trip. We are going end of November through the first week in December and I know the temp will be a guessing game.

We are going for 12days and will have a washer/drying in our unit at SSR.
But can anyone give me an idea of what I shoul pack for that time of the year.
I was going to pack 2 pairs of short
3 jeans
1 capri
and a bunch of short and long sleeve tops
along with a jacket for her (not to heavy and not to light)
Also I was going to pack 2 dresses (One I can put a long sleeve top under it and leggins if it is cold and take those items off during the day if it warms up.

Any tips would be great. This is our first family vacation and our first trip to the World with a child.

Thanks,
Margaux

Definitely pack a range of clothes for hot or cool. I went last December and I would bring pants for my youngest and switch to shorts when it got warm, and back again. I brought a lightweight jacket along too. I typically buy a beach towel when I go down there and will use it as a blanket on extra chilly nights. The one thing that I found that worked best for the late nights was my stoller cover. Instead of using it just when raining, I would throw it over the stroller and it would help insulate the heat.

We went the end of Nov last year and our DD was 20 mos. We did not bring any dresses at all..unless you plan on going out somewhere that you need to dress up, I wouldn't bring that. We ended up wearing shorts for 2 days, capris for 2 days and jeans for 3 days. We brought a cute hanna andersson sweatshirt jacket w/a hood along for both our DDs (check them out online...they were onsale recently and definitely worth the money). I also brought a range of short and long sleeve shirts and 1 sweatshirt along w/the sweatshirt jacket. I would say bring 2 capris/light pants at least. Those seemed to be what was worn during the day moreso, cuz it is warmer w/the sun. Let me know if you have any questions!

dec can be a tricky month, i have been there when it is hot, warm and cold. One year we had to go to walmart and buy gloves.

Don't forget gloves and a hat, there have been Decembers when we have really needed them!

Also, don't forget jackets!! Don't bring big, bulky winter coats, though; you can always wear layers if you're extra cold. :teeth:

Just be sure to check the 14 day forcast before you go. We went the second week of Jan '05 and it was hot all week, so last year when we went the third week of Dec we packed shorts. Thank goodness we also packed a few sweat shirts, pants, gloves, and hats. We almost froze! I took my GD back for a little GM-GD time two weeks later (first week of Jan) and she couldn't believe the difference from one year to the next. Second week of Jan '05 we wore shorts every day and first week of Jan '06 we froze. I'd pack a little of everything just in case and then plan on washing the clothes you need.

Yes...gloves and hats. We needed those gloves two mornings last Dec but it warmed up around mid day. We did dress in layers because even though it was 50 in the morning's when we started out it was not uncommon for it to get to 68-70 by afternoon and then back down again in the evening. I think we only had a few days where the kids wore sweatshirts and a lightweight jacket throughout most of the day.

We were at WDW Thanksgiving week last year and it was very pleasant. It was a bit chilly on days we got early starts but a light jacket was all that was needed for all of us. The evenings got a bit colder also. Which gave us excuses to buy lots of Disney sweatshirts! :rotfl2: We all wore shorts every day. We did bring jeans with us but never wore them the entire week. Even when it was a bit colder in the evening myself, DW and the 2 older kids were fine with shorts and a light jacket/sweatshirt and we covered our DD2's legs with a small blanket we brought with us. Most times she took it off and wasn't cold but it was nice to have anyway.

My suggestion is to definitely layer in the morning so that you can take the layers off as the day gets hotter and then put them back on as the evenings get colder. Also, if you do wear jeans/pants becuase it's cold in the morining be prepared to change into shorts or to be a little on the warm side because it can get hot during the day. And wear confortable shoes on everyone!! Leave the flip flops at home or in the room!

Have a great time and enjoy the little ones' faces.

We are going at the sametime as OP. Myself, DH,DS4,DS7,DD6mo. We were wondering the samething. I don't want to bring too much but it seems like we'll have to pack a little of everything and hope that we don't end up using a lot of onething.

I have been going the second week in Dec for years and everyone is right it can go from one extreme to the other you never know. I usually base all outfits on shortsor capris and a t-shirt. My girls like to wear dresses so I pack a couple of them also. 1 or 2 pair of jeans for night time. I will put in 2 long sleeve shirts, a sweatshirt and a regular spring jacket. All neutral colors so they can mix and match. Layer if its cold so you can take off. Long sleeve t shirt under a regular t-shirt. Not to mention its very in style!! hat way you can just wash and reuse

Usually they will tuff it in the morning with the shorts and throw there jacket on by 10 you can take it off but then you have it again when the sun goes down.

Ditto on the gloves and hats! We were able to swim one day, but the next night we were buying the super expensive gloves and hats in the park. We also were grateful to have a small blanket for the stroller -- otherwise, DD (4) would have never lasted for the fireworks!
