My past trips were off season when most are in school. We really enjoyed beating the crowds and the heat ;) This is the first year that dd will be in school and it will count against her. I am so ready to plan next years vacation, but don't know when to go. Any tips from parents with school-aged kids going to Disney?

Our oldest will be in Kindergarten (starts Aug 22) and we're taking him out for the week we're going in Sept :)

Unless you're willing/able to take your DD out of school, there's really not much you can do but go during the usual busy times.

going in sept too. I do try and go early Sept because they are usually reviewing from the previous year and makes it a little easier to pull them out then. No crowds last year (except for restaurants :lmao: ), free food. we LOved :lovestruc it.

We're going on a short trip, so I don't know if this will help but we're taking one day out of school...a Friday. This is the Friday before Spring Break starts so we're going Friday thru Monday of Spring Break. It's about a week before Easter so it's going to be crowded, but not quite as crowded as it may be if we went during that week.

We've also been in June before and it wasn't that bad. We did mornings and then went back after lunch.

We've been for Spring Break (last week of April) and while its crowded, its not as hot and humid as in the summer (we've been then too). If I had a choice I'd pick April over July or August.

I took dd who is in 1st grade out for a week. We went maybe 2 weeks before the spring break. I spoke with her teacher and she had no concerns.
We drove so my dd wrote a nice writing assignment on everything we saw and did. This year I will have 2 in school so we are having this same conversation at our house. I would think spring break in April would be busier than if they have one in Feb. I am still thinking we will go beginning of March before all the schools have the break. I feel the kids are younger and if it is too crowded waiting is very hard to do. Good luck
