This is our second trip to Disneyland and we will be in the parks Wed-Sat the third week of April. We just hit our 60 day mark so I need to figure out our Character Breakfast plans. I am trying to decide whether to do the Magic Morning at Disneyland on that Thursday or Saturday. I will do the Character Breakfast on the other morning at Plaza Inn. We didn't have a magic morning pass during our last trip so I'm not sure the best day to use it. Thanks in advance for feedback.

I would use your Magic Morning as early in your trip as possible. My group found it harder and harder to get up in time to make it to rope drop as the trip progressed, so we were glad we did the MM towards the start of the trip rather than at the end.

I think what Figment said is generally the best advice. The only caveat I would add is that a MM on Saturday at 7 is going to be a lot less crowded than a MM on Thursday at 9, at least in our experience. All depends on if you can get your crew to rise that early to make it worth it. Hours are not up that far out yet to see.

Agreed with everything above and you may consider eating in the parks a bit later so not to spoil the "golden hours" before the crowds arrive (as you stated). On a 7am MM day we try to eat a late character or other breakfast (10:30-10:40am) so we can enjoy the low crowds of the morning and still have a great breakfast experience. The MM at 7am will be far less crowded than the 9am as stated above and a 10:30 breakfast would give you 3.5 hours of lower crowd touring before you sit down to watch the "sleep-ins" stream in. We use the late breakfast as brunch and have fruit or a breakfast bar on the way in and a mid am snack to hold us until our "brunch".

My caveat is that there is a risk at Plaza that they will be preparing for lunch as you finish your meal. It hasn't really bothered us too much the last few trips, but it may be a bit annoying if you like to linger. We've been able to see all of the characters, but they are changing over as we leave.

Thanks so much for all the feedback!!! Great advice! I have a couple of character breakfast reservations at this point until we can see the park hours. I am already so wound up for this trip and can't wait to see my boy's faces.
