I need some advice on planning a TS meal for MGM Studios...We haven't been there on past trips... we might do Fantasmic, but I don't want the package deal for that. (we have a wheelchair user in our family, and I was told the seating on the reserved side for w/c's isnt' that great...) Our group consists of me-Planning addict, DH, DS-16, and DD's 5-6-8. TIA for any advice!

My favorite TS at MGM is 50's Prime Time Cafe. They serve what I consider "comfort food". I got meat loaf and mashed potatos when I went last December. Plus the atmosphere is very vibrant and entertaining.

I am not a fan of buffets so that's why I don't like Hollywood and Vine. Brown Derby seems very overpriced for what you get. Mama Melrose was just okay to me. I much preferred Tony's at MK to MM. I haven't been to the Sci-Fi diner in a while, so I hate to make a comment about that.

Good luck!

Sci-Fi has wonderful onion rings but the rest is just so so. (we are not picky)
My kids do love sitting in the cars and watching the movie clips but that gets old before we even finish our meal. We are trying 50's Prime Time in Sept. for the first time since we have heard good things.

We've been to both Mama Melrose and Brown Derby. Both were wonderful. I have ADR's for them for our next vacation.

I don't think there's a bad place to see Fantasmic. I liked having reserved seating so we didn't have to worry about standing in line.

We Ate At Sci-fi While We Were At Mgm A Few Weeks Ago. Don't Waste Your Money. The Atmosphere Was Great, But The Food Terrible. Too Over Priced For The Quality.

My vote for you would be 50's PT. The food is always very good! Sometimes the server quality varies alittle but the food is awesome! Good ole home cookin!

We've always enjoyed 50's Prime Time. We considered Mama Melrose's so we could do the dinner package and decided we'd rather wait longer for Fantasmic. The menu at MM just didn't excite me. And DH loves the fried chicken at 50's. And the milk shakes are wonderful!

The food there was really good. I got the pot roast and it was so tender that you could just pull with a fork. And I loved that on the DDP we could get a milkshake for a drink so I got the PBJ shake which was just so good. and the S'mores dessert was so gooey. Kid's meals were great. Our server had my son laughing with the No elbows and everything. It was a great time.

The Hollywood and Vine wasn't too bad for a buffet but wasn't my favorite buffet while there. (that vote goes to Boma)

The Fantasmic Dinner package seating is the far right section, as you face the stage. The show includes some some portions that are movies on screens made of water mist. There are 3 of these, so each section of the amphitheater has one that is directed toward it. The action does take place all over the stage and there are also portions that take place on boats, which start off stage at the right and going around the water to off stage at the left, so they pass by every section of the seating.
The wheelchair accessible seating for the whole amphitheater of Fantasmic is the same - it's the whole back row. There are empty spaces where people with wheelchairs and ECVs can park intersperced with seats There is one seat next to each wheelchair space , so that one person can sit next to the person using a wheelchair. The rest of your party will be seated right in front of the wheelchair in the 2 rows in front of the back row.

There are a few accessible seats in the front row. I don't know if there are any in the Fantasmic Dinner area or not. It is important to be aware that you will probably get wet from the water mist used to make the movie screens. If the water is blowing away from you, you might get a little wet. If it's blowing toward you, you will get quite wet. When we sat in the front row, we wondered why they were selling beach towels before the show started. After it began, we knew what they were for.

I've been to Fantasmic with my mom using a scooter. The advantage of the package and reserve seating is really that you don't have to fight the crowd to stand in line to get in to the theater. There is a whole separate entrance for the people who have the reserved seating and that was MUCH easier for my mom to navigate with the scooter.

As for the restaurant, we never miss eating at Brown Derby on every trip. We love it.
