A little background...Dh go to WDW every fall for food and wine (we call it fall birding instead of snow birding). So, we have signed up (and paid for) several special event luncheons and dinners (non-refundable). Fast forward...
Our DD has a chance to go to a work conference in Mexico during part of our stay and so we offer to pick up our DGS's (twin 2 1/2 year olds) during the middle part of our Fall Birding stay (yes, we're crazy about them).

We're staying at AKV - Kidani and so I thought "no problem, I'll sign them up for the child care center (the boys love new day care experiences, so I wasn't worried about that)"...then as I'm doing research I find out that most of the resort 'day cares' don't open until 4 or 5 pm. Yikes, one of our special meals in a luncheon that starts at 12 pm. As I said it's paid for and non-refundable and non-transferrable, so we would really like to be able to attend. So I did a search on in room babysitters, which I know I've read about in the past but I couldn't pull up any helpful threads.

I would love some information on personal experiences, etc. , also if there's a link to research it a little.....I really appreciate any input. Luckily our little dgs's are very okay with situations like this or I wouldn't even consider it, money lost or not.

Sorry this is so long, I just know that often more details is asked before you can respond.

First of all the Child care centers are for 3 and up. So at 2 1/2 you would not be able to use them anyway. There is a service that will come to your room called Kids Night Out. From what I understand you can arrange for care during the day as well.

We used a lady from sunshine child care. My friend lives in Orlando and uses them frequently.

Oh, my goodness! Thank you, I don't know how I missed that little bit of info. Is Kids Night Out ran by Disney or is it outsourced?

I believe it is "recommended" by WDW. Employees of KNO also go thru the traditions class that CM's take.

Thank you! Great link and info. I think we're going to go with this and if after our first time, we're not happy with it we will cancel the remaining 2.

I've ran this by my daughter and she's okay with us giving this a try. The boys are very adaptable and love 'good' sitters...still sad they can't do the Disney Child Centers because I know they would have LOVED them.

Thank you all for your input. We haven't had to deal with childcare for years so I just hadn't paid as close of attention to childcare threads ...I will from now on.:)

There's another babysitting service called Fairy Godmothers that gets good reviews.

We've had wonderful experiences with KNO in the past. I think the kids enjoyed the break from the intensity of the park to just hang out with a babysitter, play with toys (brought with the babysitter), and relax.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I do think the boys will enjoy it because they love fun people, new toys, and attention.:)

Would you mind sharing with me what an appropriate tip would be, based on a 4 hour job? Thank you

We used Kids Night Out our last trip so DH and I could have a date night at Epcot. At the time our kids were 8 and twin 5 year olds (all boys). She was a brave soul and took all of them from our tower room at CR down to the lobby, to the arcade area, and to do a mickey mouse craft offered at CR somewhere. Then she survived my 8 year old chatting her ear off while the twins slept until we arrived back later that evening. We were happy with the KNO service and would use it again if needed.

Thank you MomOfTwins+ 1, The positve experiences I'm reading here are really a huge relief.
