Help! I posted this on the CB and got only one response so I was hoping you creative types could help:smooth:

We are having a pre-holiday get together Thanksgiving weekend as we just finished remodeling our home and have been promising people to come over and see it. I will be serving hors deouvres, dessert and cocktails. My questions is how should I word the invitation? I was thinking along the lines of "Come help kick off the holiday season...." or something. Should I do any kind of theme?

Please help as I want it to be really nice. I will probably have the invites printed so I'm up against a time deadline. We will also be giving YC for party favors as well, so maybe we can tie that in???

I don't know---I am totally open to suggestion!

Congrats on the 'new completed home' How lovely - just in time for all the holidays!

my advice is to "match your event time to what you are serving" - so if you don't plan on serving lunch - don't have the party at lunchtime - If you are serving appetizers, dessert & cocktails, you need to have it after lunch -or before dinnertime - or after dinnertime does that make sense? The time of an invitation tells people what to expect as far as if they need to eat before or plan on a full meal...

The Kick off theme sounds fun! are you thinking football stuff?
I have seen football pinata the yC could do - outside or in garage if weather bad for some candies - football game outside for kids..

Thanks for the reply. I guess I should've been a bit more specific. The party will definitely be in the evening ater dinner--more along the lines of a cocktail party--and maybe somewhat semi-formal. I'm thinking cocktails, appetizers then dessert, liquors and coffee. It will be an adults only party. I am just unsure as to how to word the invitation. I wanted something sort of clever, but "holidayish".:D Any other ideas?

OHH I thought YC meant 'young children' haha so I assumed it was in afternoon or early evening.

OK adults only that will be even better- you can specify holiday dress & have it semi-formal since it is in the evening.

umm how about

are you planning before or after thanks giving. if after I would get my house dec.for Christmas. Have a holiday themed invtation. Some times if you have it early people are not so busy and will have a better time. Our family went to a christmas in July party I had so much fun (corny I know) but what a blast. We all bought one gift they were placed on a table and each couple took one at the end of the evening. so I guess it is sorta up to you how you plan for the night How you would design the invitation. but remember have fun!

Thanks for the great ideas everyone. And Rebecca, that was a wonderful site and I just might do some cardlifting;)
