Need Help with Gifts for 9 & 12 y.o. girls

I need some help on gifts. I need to get something for my cousin's two girls. They are 9 and 12. The live in another state and we have not seen them in quite a while so I am not sure what they are interested in right now. I would rather get gifts than gift cards.

Any ideas?

I would ask your cousin what they are into. Every girl likes different things. My DD10 hates Hannah Montana for instance but alot of girls her age like Hannah Montana.

I had to ask my sister what her son likes now since his interests change from year to year too.

I think you would be safe with craft kits. Most girls like them.

I'm a huge fan of crafty things for girls this age. Michaels has lots of American Girl craft stuff - make your own bracelets, fabric paint, etc. Body paint crayons are fun. You could buy some tie-dye colors and a couple of t-shirts. At 2 for $5, tshirts are so cheap that you could send several and they could make them with friends. My almost 12YO DD loves to scrapbook, and would enjoy the papers/sequins/stickers for that.

Also, kids this age are into music - if they own mp3 players, they'd appreciate a GC to buy more songs. (This type of GC is more specific than say a Target card)

I would prob ask your cousin. My dd (9) likes books, more books, dolls, Wii games, ds games, craft stuff, lip gloss, cd's of Miley, Hannah, Selma Gomez, board games but dislikes barbies, LPS, Bratz, and other stuff other kids her age like.

DD11 loves those Japanese erasers. They usually sell them at places like 5 below or littel gift shops.

She and her friends also like DS games and are starting to get into clothes and dressing up (looking nicer not dress up clothes) so i got her a variety of gift cards to stores where she likes to shop so she can pick out accessories without me saying "I'm not paying for that!" She loves clairesand icing.

Spa stuff

Most girls love to get pretty smelling lotions and bath products. DD12 loves the cupcake and hot cocoa scented ones that are out this time of year.

Movie tickets Tape it to a theater size box of candy.

Twilight- most girls love anything to do with Twilight, movie posters, T-shirts,Ect.

Board game - some of DD's favorites are Scatagories and Taboo.

Lip gloss "fer sure!"...Really. They never get tired of this. Mani/pedi stuff, cute shoulder bags...some are really into eco-friendly ones! Blanks book/diaries, stickers, itunes gift cards/cds.

Just bought my 9 year old dd a Cranium SpongeBob game for $15 at Toys R Us. Looks like something fun and a little different for that age.

I also bought a play ATM machine for her that I know she'll like.

My DD never cared for craft things. She loves to draw but really didn't get into crafts. Gift cards are always a hit, especially when they are at an age that they can spend their own $.

My girls are 10 and 12. You can't go wrong with Aeropostale and Abercrombie. Hoodies, Tshirts, sweats. You also can't go wrong with Bath and Body Works or Twilight. My girls have very different interests from there.

These are the ages of my girls. I've got one who doesn't like crafts, too. We've got a closet full of untouch craft stuff. Why not ask their mom?

If they have DS or Wii or other gaming systems, a game would be nice. My girls love clothes. The younger wants stuff for her AG dolls. The older is into anything Twilight.
