Calling all Brides that have already tasted the cake! I need help deciding on the flavors for the cake. I think it'll be 3 layers and I don't like peanuts and DF's best man is allergic to peanuts so we can't have any peanutbutter filling. Any other combiniations would be welcomed! I need to decide sometime soon! Thanks in advance for all of your help!

we liked the chocolate cake with amaretto mousse filling.

Just subscribing because we go for our PS this upcoming weekend and I was wondering this same thing :) Thanks for asking it!!

Do they let you try a lot of different combinations?

The cake tasting is cool. They give you bite-sized pieces of all the different kinds of cake (a few pieces of each), and tiny containers of the different mousse fillings, so you can put them together in any way that you want. We stuffed ourselves! Btw, we picked almond and yellow cake and buttercream mousse.

My parents had their vow renewal last year and OMG they had the buttercream outside and the white chocolate inside. People are still talking about this cake! Normally we aren't big white chocolate fans by it was literally to DIE FOR! We are going to pic the same one for our wedding next year! Happy selecting!

i'm sure this combo is available at wdw...

vanilla cake
white chocolate mousse
passionfruit (think it was a mousse)

OMG the best cake I've ever had in my life. I still dream about that cake...over 1 year later...um...is that weird???

Hi Luvsmickey
I had my planning session in November, and they brought out a little tray for our cake tasting.

There were 4 kinds of cake - Almond, Chocolate, Marble and Yellow. Then there were 8 little pots of fillings and frostings - Buttercream, White Chocolate Mousse, Amaretto Mousse, Milk Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Mousse, Baileys Mousse, Tropical Mousse and Bavarian Cream. Lol - can't believe I can remember them all! :rotfl2:

In case you are wondering (I was) the Bavarian Cream is just like a sweetened version of a normal whipped cream.

My DF and I chose to have chocolate cake with Bavarian Cream for our bottom layer, and Marble cake with Buttercream for our top layer. We are fairly straightforward with our cake flavours and these combinations were just lovely!

The almond cake I thought was very almondy, particularly with the amaretto mousse - definitelty only for nut lovers! (and that is not my fiance!) :rotfl:

Hope this helps a bit.

Miranda

We are having marble cake, with chocolate mousse

Our favorite was the raspberry mousse. Oh my goodness, so yummy! We were surprised we liked it b/c we are more chocolate/ vanilla boring people. We chose the raspberry mousse on yellow cake for the bottom layer and chocolate mousse on almond cake for the next layer. The almond cake was very good too.

Please excuse me while I drool! Miranda, are you an Intimate or Custom? I just wondered as I've never seen Baileys or Tropical mousee listed for Intimates anywhere previously. They all sound sooooo tempting, especially the almond, Baileys, choc and tropical.
I'm so greedy, that I'm now hoping not to people come with us so I can have more cake to myself:cake:

We just came back from our wedding..

Bottom layer: chocolate cake with amaretto mousee and fresh strawberries
Middle layer (my favorite - I ate 4 pieces): lemon cake with raspberry mousse and fresh raspberries
Top layer: chocolate cake with raspberry mousse

I am still dreaming about the middle layer. I wish I could have it for our at-home reception but I doubt I'll find a cake that good around here... oh well, maybe for our anniversary next year. :goodvibes

Yum! Cake! I wish I could have some now!
I had apple spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and the top cake was chocolate with mocha filling, and butter cream frosting.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! I'm so glad I made this thread!!!! I'm getting a LOT of great ideas! Keep them coming!:cheer2:

Moonpie: the Mocha filling sounds right up my alley! I just don't think it's one of the choices.:sad1:

Happylalagilr: Thank you:hug: , I forgot you could do fresh Strawberries and Rasberries! Yay! This cake is gonna be sooooo good!

Shaun&Miranda: Thank You! Your description of all the different flavors and everything was great!

Cryssi: No, not weird at all! I think that's great! I can't wait! Yum, Cake!:woohoo:

Belle1981: That does sound good! I'm gonna have such a hard time choosing my flavors!:headache:

Everyone else: Thanks for your tips too! And I'm glad I could help by starting the thread for everyone who was wandering the same thing!

We just had our PS and man all the flavors are soooooo good you really can't go wrong imo! this is ours:

Bottom layer: Almond cake w/ ameretto mouse & fresh strawberries
Second Layer: choclate cake w/ rasberry mousse and fresh rasberries
Top layer: almond Cake w/ bailey's mouse

We really looooved the almond cake. it had a bit more flavor and moisture than the yellow but was still subtle! Plus flavors I thought I would love (like white chocolate mousse) really weren't my favorite and I am usually a chocolate maniac:goodvibes

If your best man (or any guests) are allergic to peanuts, you should DEFINITELY mention this at your cake tasting. Sometimes this will affect some of the other flavors you wouldn't have thought. For example, there is chocolate in the raspberry mousse. They can either suggest alternate flavors, or even make him his own cake. Particularly because peanut allergies are usually severe.

We had a layer that was white cake with white chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries, and another was chocolate with chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries. I wish I could find a place to duplicate that at home but so far, no luck!

Regarding your Bestman's allergy: I made my wedding totally soy & nut free because of my stepdaughter's allergy. The only thing they couldn't gurantee is the cake because it is made in the bakery among other cakes. Peanut dust can get on the cake and cause a reaction to the person that is affected with the allergy. I would double check with my EM and make sure the food you are serving is safe for him to eat. We ended up serving her a seperate dessert (fruit sorbets).

Our cake was a mad hatter cake with 3 layers, marble with rasberry mousse, marble with white choc & yellow cake with milk choc.:goodvibes

I vote almond/amaretto....it was so good!

We're also having the peanut butter/chocolate cake (which I know you can't use) but our 2nd layer is marble cake with milk chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries.

The Baileys & Chocolate cake was really good too! (It reminded DF of tiramisu)
