Need help with first booking

Just want to make sure I understand this correctly. I currently have 122 BLT Feb 2014 points. I have 160 pts coming on February 2015. I want to use 108 points for a trip in April 2015. I may not take another trip until after feb 2016. I would like to transfer any unused points. What is the best way to do this?

1) transfer the 122 feb 14 points. Borrow 108 pts from February 2015?
2) book with 108 feb 14 pts. Bank the remaining 14?
3) other?

An April 2015 trip would fall in your Feb 2015 UY. So you won't be borrowing any points from Feb 2015.

You can easily transfer or sell the Feb 2014 points without affecting the 2015 points.

Unless you really want to rent or transfer the points because you want the money for them, I would wait until fall, bank the 2014 points and use them for the 2015 trip. Then you could use/rent/transfer/bank the 2015 points until 2016, giving you a lot more points (and a bigger room, more point-y resort, etc.) for that trip.

Just another option to consider depending on what your ultimate goals are.

Not that it's a big deal, but what would I do with the extra 14 points from 2014? If I bank them into 2015, I won't be able to transfer them (only rent). So if I bank the 122 points from 2014, and use 108 on the Apr 2015 reservation. Then possibly transfer my entire 160 points from 2015. What to do with those 14 extra points?

If I instead transfer all 122 points from 2014 now, and then book the reservation with 108 points from 2015, I could then bank the remaining 52 pts into 2016. No points wasted that way. (If I am following this correctly...)

Are the 2015 point charts even out yet? I don't actually know, but that's one consideration to keep in mind if they're not, your room plan could cost more points. I don't really have an answer for what you should do, just throwing it out there as an idea. We never have any points left over so those are not decisions I ever have to make.

Even if you own at BLT sometime standard rooms are not available so I would suggest making sure that before you bring yourself down to the lowest points you need you make sure you have enough available to use for a lake view room instead of a standard room. If you are already planning on a lake view or theme park view room don't worry about this but I never leave myself only enough points for a standard because many times at 11 months they are booked up.
