Thanks so much for all your help and the websites. I personally would prefer some of the other restaurants there, but the rest of our group wants to eat there.
Personally, I think you'll owe your group a big "Thank You", after eating there. You will soon find on this board that Emeril's/ Tchoup Chop is a love/ hate thing for many here. Most people have a clear favorite. Ours is Emeril's. We've eaten there many times, but never for lunch. We absolutely love it!!! We've eaten at Tchoup Chop twice, & we all rank those meals among the worst we've ever had in a so called "fine dining" establishment. On the plus side, if you don't like Emeril's, odds are you'll love Tchoup Chop.

I don't make a habit of dining out but after many years of travelling and in managing restaurants I know what I like and do have high expectations. That was part of a very special trip and we went all out with our choices and certain restaurants just did not deliver. We haven't been to Tchoup Chop for dinner but our lunch there in 2005 was excellent - from the moment we arrived in park attire to the moment we left. The dinner at Emeril's was for 2 so you can see we did have a few extras. The most disappointing part for me was the failure of management onsite and corporately to take responsibility and put it right. Three of the better meals that we had on the trip were at the resort we stayed at in Mexico. The food and service were extroadinary. No restaurant came close to our number 1 on that trip though - Victoria & Alberts. It seemed that every bite and sip was an explosion of flavour and freshness. It cost us $100 more than Emeril's, don't know if we'll ever repeat such a meal but thrilled that I got to experience it once.
Our experience was of course the reverse. We booked Emeril's as part of our 30th anniversary trip last year, noted on the reservation and at check in that we were celebrating a special event and would gladly wait for a 'nice' table. We were then seated by electrical conduit and told that nothing else was available. Did the wine pairings with our dinner and felt that there was never a great match - almost like they had prepared the wine pairings for a completely different menu. First 2 courses fell flat but things did turn around at the seafood course. Overall, our bill that night was $310 including the tip and I would have rated Emeril's at 7th out of the 14 dinners we had last year. Not what I would expect for the cost. Worse part of all, received no satisfaction either through the restaurant management or in a letter.
I think you had our table. My wife and I go to Emerils 2 times each year. Once for our Anniversary and once for My birthday. The first 4 times, we were always seated by the electrical conduit on the patio room. After that whenever I call to make our reservation, I request it. Infact they have it logged and when I give them my telephone#, they know what table it is.
It isn't the best table in the place, by a conduit and by a door that opens to the main room, but for us, it holds special memories.
