Need help with DD's b-day present please!!!

I'm (obviously) a mom...DD will be 17 in a couple of weeks. One of our ideas is a TV (may 22" or so). She'll be off to college in 1.5 years...so we thought this might be a nice gift now - that will take her through her college years.

So- is this a good idea - or does it "smack" of - we won't have the money for something like this next year (as she heads off to college).

And - do we need to get her a TV/DVD combo - or just a TV.

One of my graduation gifts was a 22" TV with a built in DVD player- I absolutely love it, and would have loved to get it as a birthday present earlier! I think it's a great idea for a gift for your DD.

I've found that it's easier having the DVD player built into the TV- it takes up a lot less room that way. In a dorm room, there isn't a lot of space, so the built in DVD player is great. It leaves more room for all the 'important' things on my dresser
