I am starting to send out my resume, after working for a company for 25 years. There is a job that I would like to apply for and they are asking for salary requirments. I know this job probably pays less than I make now, but there may be other advantages to the job.

How do I word in my cover letter that I am open to the salary. I'm afraid if I put what I make now they won't even consider me.

Help - this is all new to me!

I hate that question.

I would try "negotiable" too, or put a "in the $___ to $___ range" putting the minimum you would accept and the maximum you were making or would expect to get. That's a reasonable answer for a salary requirement. Usually you end up somewhere in the middle.

Thank you so much for your help. I did put negotiable on my cover letter.
